Ryansgirl: P.S. I echo the posters who recommend cutting out sugar. Carbs are bad because they metabolize as sugar. Give it a few weeks and you won’t even miss it.
If you’re looking for snack or meal ideas, google Paleo recipes. I don’t eat full paleo (and don’t buy the actual “paleolithic era” mumbo jumbo) but they ARE a good low-carb, low-sugar, high protein and fat diet, which sounds like what you’re going for. I was eating like this for a while (about 80% paleo – I didn’t cut out soy or rice and wouldn’t have been considered “strict paleo”) and I was in the best shape I’ve ever been in. Just a thought.

Tomato and cucumber salad with lemon, salt and pepper.
Old-cheddar cheese pieces
Sprouts
Nuts
Chia seeds
Exotic flavour yogurts (35 cals)
Sad to say most of my snacks have some carbs.

This are all awesome, thanks so much. I didn’t really know where to start, so getting ideas here was great. I just ran to the grocery store on my lunch break and bought:
cherry tomatoes
mushrooms (to add to my morning eggs)
old cheddar
greek yogurt
cottage cheese
I have lots of eggs, nuts and veggies at home, so I’ll be sure to keep checking in for ideas and I’ll check out the paleo recipes too…thanks for the idea Soon2bmrs1: 🙂

Ryansgirl: Depends on how low carb you are trying to go, but some ideas:
– full fat plain cottage cheese
– home made beef jerky (do not add sugar). This is easy if you have a dehydrator…not so much if you don’t.
– cut veggies. Add hummus for maximal deliciousness (I think hummus is low carb but not sure?)
– Raw nuts of all kinds

I like to eat plain veggies for healthy snacks. My fave low carb breakfast is an omelet! I don’t purposefully eat low carb though.

Quest bars are yummy and filling and most are around 4-5 net carbs. They have a lot of fiber to fill you up. I like cookie dough flavor best. Avocados are also good. Those and low carb lean cuisines make dieting easy for me.

mg1363: Most food have carbs. Most healthy foods contain some carbs (even vegetables). Carbs assist in giving you energy and in some cases fiber and has many other benefits. Where people go wrong is when they eat processed foods with processed/refined sugar. Also, many of us overindulge which causes weight gain. There is nothing wrong with a sweet potato and there are so many nutrients that will actually benefit you. There is something wrong however, with eating 6 sweet potatoes in one sitting.
