I am REALLY into names. I love learning new names, learning their meanings, different pronouncations depending on culture, and of course imagining them on our future children. So naturally, I have a few “guilty pleasure” names. Names I really like, but wouldn’t use for some reason or another.
First is Fitzwilliam. I think it’s such a cool, old fashioned name and you could easily use a modern or trendy nickname; Fitz, Liam. Plus it’s the name of my favorite leading man, Mr. Darcy from Pride and Prejudice!
Next is Odette. I think it sounds so elegant and almost has a royal feel (could because because of Swan Princess), but my husband said, “That sounds like Owe Debt” and now that’s all I can think about lol.
I also really like Damon, but I had a terrible ex named Damion.
That’s all I can think of. Does anyone else have guilty pleasure names or am I just weird?

I would never use it because I like how it’s pronounced in spanish but very few would actually say it that way. I also hate the whole “you’re getting on my last minerva,” joke.

Anything super French and girly: Cosette, Delphine… I want my girls, if I have them, to have strong unisex names, but oh MY I love those delectable French names.

Kendall for a girl. I love the name, and yet, for some reason, it sounds like a stripper name to me. I wish it didn’t, because it’s a lovely name. But yeah, go figure.

@SunflowerGarden: I love the name Aoibheann. Pronounced EE-van. Irish. Means ‘beautiful sheen’
but as someone who had the name Brynne (brin) mispronounced her whole life, I could never do that to my future kid.

I love the name Henrietta… but I don’t think I’d have the guts to use it.
Also… admit it… ‘Chlamydia’ SOUNDS pretty. too bad it would be a crime against humanity to name a child that.

@SunflowerGarden: A friend of mine just called her daughter Odette, it was her grandmothers name.
I love the older ladies names are well, like Evelyn and Elanor, both are making a comeback now..

@Azure – haha, chlamydia. A sad but true statement!
My guilty pleasure name is Kenly…it happens to be a truck stop in North Carolina.

@azure: Holy moly, my college friends and I used to joke that “Chlamydia” and “Chlamydio” would be great names for twins!

I want kids named Sunshine, Starlight, Moonbeam, and Rainbow!
Of course Darling Husband would never allow that! We’re trying to get preggers – hoping for a boy – and we’ve been capital O obsessing over Easton. To the point where we talk about “it’s time to conceive Easton” or “I want X baby object for Easton”.
i also love tree and flower names – Cedar, Aster, Hawthorn, etc. I do some creative writing, and I collect names for characters.

@TripleNickle: Love Easton!
@lilmisty: My husband likes to tease me by saying he’s going to name our kid Gonorrhea, but it will be pronounced “Gon-or-ia”. lol!

I really love Jovie…It means ‘joyful’.

I LOVE Jasper!
Although I did not name our son Jasper, I will, someday give that name to a cat

Siobahn, Ivo (exept everyone would think it sounds like “evil”), Saffron (sounds kind of…bad girl), Kelly (too old-school).
