What do you like to do? What do you consider your hobbies and interests?
To cut a long story short, I am in my early twenties and have suffered serious anxiety (as cliche as it is) in trying to work out who I am, what I want to do and what direction I want my life to take.
In the midst of all of this self analysis I realised that I don’t really even know who I am or what I like to do. What my hobbies and interests are. So in grounding who I am I am taking the steps to develop my interests and was interested to see what you Bees like to do in your free time!?
Any hobbies that are a little abstract or unusal? Anything you wish you did or plan on taking up in the future?
I would love to hear!

@justjade: I know what you mean about trying to find who you are. I’m another bee in their early twenties and it’s stressful trying to figure out what to do with your life lol
I enjoy reading. I would love to start writing as well but right now I just don’t have the time. I also wish I could start “enjoying” going to the gym as right now it is a struggle to get my booty there :p

I try and dabble in as many musical instruments as I can. Currently it’s the french horn. I’m hoping to take lessons once I get some more $.

I’m picking up physical activity hobbies – I’ve always loved horses, and now I’m doing karate and looking for a convenient zumba class. All of these activities tend to come with friends, too, because a group of people suffering like you do in a good karate class inevitably bonds.

I’m a giant nerd. I love reading (especially a good fantasy novel), board games (Munchkin!), video games (playing Skyrim at the moment). I love to dress up and go to renaissance faires. We have tons of good themed (non-renaissance) festivals here, too, so we usually go to a few of those (Irish Fest, Island Fest, Ribfest, Taste of the city, Greek Fest, etc.) over the summer.

@vorpalette: I still haven’t played Munchkin! I’ve been meaning to check it out. What fantasy novels would you recommend?

I’m really big into crafting (currently making a cake topper for my friend’s wedding), throwing (I don’t have a wheel atm though), sewing/crochet, painting/drawing, baking/cooking, video games (another vote for Skyrim, just got the Dawnguard DLC), board games, and dancing. I also play the cello and the piano, but since it was forced on me as a kid, I don’t really have the desire to play them anymore.

Video games (ie Pokemon/Animal Crossing/Diablo), cooking/baking, and I’ve taken dance since I was a child. Right now I’m practicing calligraphy too. Does going to the gym count as a hobby? I love going when I have the opportunity.

@justjade: I really enjoy writing – it’s my outlet. I enjoy reading when I can find the time because I believe strongly in continuous improvement (I mean reading books where I can learn, not reading 50 Shades of Hell or whatever). For active stuff, my husband and I cycle, hike, and work out in our home gym. We enjoy working on our home and being out in our boat. We spend a ton of time with our family and as much time as we can with friends. We are in our mid/late twenties as well.

@justjade: Although I haven’t had a lot of time for it lately, I like running, especially if I am training for a race, as well as cycling. My Fiance and I love to camp and go for day hikes as we are fortunate to have amazing trails nearby. I curl (you know, with the ice and the rocks and the brooms) in the winter, and try to get out playing golf in the summer. But my biggest passion is cooking and baking.

I’m really into home improvement projects and gardening. I like doing things to improve where my Fiance and I live, even if it’s just repainting a room over the weekend. I also love video games, various types of crafting, writing for my blog, and cooking. I’d consider going to the gym a hobby too because I use it to relieve stress after a hard day at work and I like to mix up my workouts for new challenges.

I have several that were nurtured from an early age, and a few I started late in life.
- Beekeeping (yes, the insect – started 1.5 years ago)
- Motorcycling (started 4 years ago and it changed my life for the so-much-better)
- Running (I’ve been waylaid for awhile due to an injury)
- Piano (since I was 7)
- Bird watching (since I was 5)
- Amateur photographer
- Juggling (clubs, rings, and balls, and a tiny bit of contact juggling; started at 13)
- Foodie (cooking and eating out)
- Reading & Doodling
- Postage stamp collecting (since I was 9 – now my guest bedroom closet is stuffed with stamp albums, yikes!)
I introduced Darling Husband to all of these, and he’s picked up on them except for the juggling and stamp collecting. So we get to enjoy most of these together – so much fun (he does have his own separate ones that I don’t enjoy as much)!

I love to read. And recently, I’ve gotten into working out – so I’d count running and pilates as two additional hobbies. I also love interior design and have been working to make my rental apartment into a little home for SO and me.
SO just finished grad school, but when he was still in school, all of his classes were at night. So like 2-3 nights a week I was all by myself until 10 PM or so. It got boring, so I had to find stuff to do. That’s when I started working on our apartment and I even started a blog to document things. Made me realize how important having your own “thing” really is!

- Wedding: August 2013 - Wynn Las Vegas
I love reading, cats, Disneyland and music. I read a ton. I have 4 cats myself, but I also volunteer at the cat rescue 2 days a week. Darling Husband and I go to a lot of concerts and festivals.
