We have been flying to his family’s house in Portland area for the last 5 years.  I don’t even do a tree, never have! I cannot even muster up the desire to hang a wreath.

In the event that we are actually in our own home on Christmas day, we’ll probably just go skiing.  We both get off 11 consecutive days off from work – wahoo!

I do attend holiday parties though, but I’d never throw a party.  I do not have holiday spirit.

Since we’ve lived together, our Christmas usual goes like: Christmas Eve, we visit his parents and sister, have dinner and exchange presents with them. Then we go home and either open our presents to each other after midnight or we wait until morning, depending on how tired/patient we are. We have a nice breakfast together at home, then we visit my parents in the afternoon and do presents and dinner with them.

We don’t currently have any traditions regarding decorating or ornaments or anything. I always do all the Christmas decorating myself. Oh, and we watch Elf every year at some point.

This is only our second holiday season together, but we already have a few small traditions we plan on doing every year! The week after Thanksgiving, we put up his little tree together. We also bake and decorate cookies, visit and take a picture with The Magic Tree (a neat little tree they decorate in our town), drive around and look at lights, and watch a list of Christmas movies. And since we don’t spend Christmas day together yet, we designate a Saturday evening to a “Christmas” date. We exchange gifts, go out for a nicer dinner, and then do a fun activity. This year, it’s bowling.

I can’t wait until we actually live together and have a life together! The traditions will be even more fun.

Every vacation we go on, we buy at least one Christmas ornament. Every December, we buy the funniest blown glass ornament we can find (this year it was a squirrel wearing a party hat, holding a gift, and looking unimpressed). We always put up the tree (this year trees) together right after Christmas and we have all of our “special” ornaments on our fun tree downstairs in the man cave. We also have a list of Christmas movies we watch every year, we try to do movie nights every Friday between Thanksgiving and Christmas. And lastly, on our last morning home before we leave to visit our families for the holidays, we do a mock Christmas complete with Christmas food and opening up all our gifts and all that fun stuff just like it was really Christmas for just the 2 of us 🙂

Well my SO is Jewish, so he doesn’t care much about Christmas traditions, but he goes along with whatever I want because he’s a good sport. I have 3 movies that I watch every year: Love Actually, Home Alone, and Die Hard. We watch one on Christmas Eve and the other two on Christmas. We drink poinsettas (champagne, triple sec, and cran) Christmas morning while I open my presents to Elvis’s Christmas CD. Then I cook us breakfast and do an early dinner (a ham) with all the fixings. We usually have another bottle or two of wine at night.

I live in FL and my entire family lives in MA. My family’s Christmas party is always 2 Saturdays before Christmas, so I fly up and see everyone then, which is why it’s just my SO and I on Christmas.
