At 23 years old, I still have to remind myself that there are no sharks in the deep end of the pool. Embarassed Talk about irrational! Every time I swim, if I think about sharks or any sort of creepy marine life, I start panting and swim like a maniac to the shallow end.

I also HATE ladybugs. When I was younger, a ladybug landed on my hand and I think its eye was missing? It was oozing some gross orange stuff. They creep me out now.

And this isn’t exactly irrational, because I have reason to be afraid, but CAMELS. I got bitten by a camel when I was 3! I was petting it, AT A PETTING ZOO, and it took my arm to about the elbow into his mouth and bit me! His name was Clyde. Last petting zoo I ever went toWink

Sharks.

Like I can’t shower with my eyes closed. or close my eyes in the tub.

sometiems I have to get out of pools and I will not go in the ocean.

I can’t look at sharks or anything with out feeling like I just ran 10 miles and having the worst nightmares.

I am absolutely terrified of aliens. After seeing the Fourth Kind I will NEVER go to Alaska lol it’s a really big and honestly irrational fear for me. I wouldn’t sleep until after 3:33 am for weeks! I’m also really scared of elevators, I don’t use them unless I really have to.

I am a “normal” and sane person minus this. I am TERRIFIED  of rats/mice or things that resemble rats/mice. I can’t even see pictures of them or see them on TV without feeling like I’m dying inside.  I avoid certain environments if I feel there is a likelyhood of me running into these things. I do double takes all the time. I approach various unknown small objects carefully (like a weird shaped leaf on the sidewalk) if I think it may be a mouse/rat. I freak out if I hear a mousy/raty noise. I could never live in NYC. The stories of them on the subway make me want to scream.

Only my closest friends and family know of this fear. I don’t tell anyone because some people just don’t get it and think it’s a joke. My worst nightmare is someone finding out and pranking me. Or being trapped in a room with just 1. I would seriously die. My heart drops to my stomach just thinking about it.

Some say fears can stem from our parents. I think my mom expressed fear of them when I was a kid and it did something to me.Who knows?

I work on my fear. I used to not be able to even write out the words rat or mouse without feeling crazy. I used to not be able to tolerate them in cartoon form. I am a lot better at being able to look at other animals that resemble them. I feel like it used to be a straight up phobia but now it’s just fear.

@kayl226:  I hope you don’t think I’m a terrible person but I think it’s hilarious that you remember his name. lol

@LuluInLove:  haha not terrible at all! I think the whole situation is hilarious! I’m pretty sure I only remember his name from my mom retelling the story to anyone who will listen -___- Not something you hear about everyday lol

I don’t like any kind of small creatures. Spiders, snakes, frogs, mice, even turtles.

I HATE needles. With a passion. I can’t watch people getting shots in movies, I pass out/throw up when I get shots, and don’t even get me started on blood work… I know, rationally, thay it’s just a needle, but just the thought of them makes my heart race.

I don’t like heights.

Finally, I’m afraid of pitch blackness. I can sleep as long as there is enough light to kinda see shapes and outlines (the street light outside my window is more than enough) but pitch blackness scares me. I feel like I’m in a coffin, or like the world has ended and there’s just nothing.
