You can’t control what happens to you, but you can control how you react to it. Happiness is a choice.

I’m a firm believer of God only giving you as much as He thinks you can handle. I know that sometimes doesn’t seem comforting, but he’s doing things for a reason. Things might not look up right now, but He’ll take care of you in the future. What doesn’t kill you only makes you stronger!

I totally agree with egb, and I’ve also learned to accept people as they are

I was having probably the worst day in my life about four years ago, and a friend said to me “All you can do is breathe sometimes. Just breathe.” That always helps me to keep calm and centered. Sometimes there’s not a lot you can do about a situation or you don’t know where or how to start to fixing something, but you have to breathe. You have to carry yourself through the situation and sometimes just leaving it be is the best solution. Plus a deep breath never hurts!

My family and I have been dealing with some really difficult stuff for the past 2 years and it’s all finally coming to a head – unfortunately it means that my father will not be present at my wedding in September so when I feel super low I tell myself “Sometimes you can’t change the outcome, but you can change how you will let it affect your life.”

“Life shrinks or expands in proportion to one’s courage.” Anais Nin

I love this.  I feel like most things in life are tied to the degree of courage we add to them.  If we don’t take risks, we don’t grow.  Just reminds me that if I let negative opinions and criticisms scare me off, I will never live my dreams.

I LOVE this quote by Nelson Mandela:

There is no passion to be found playing small – in settling for a life that is less than the one you are capable of living.

Kind of depends on the situation. I have a few I like… although one of my favorites I’m a little embarrassed to say is from the grandma on the show “judging amy.”

“It will be ok in the end. If it isn’t ok yet, it isn’t the end!”

I think I like it because I truly believe that things generally work out for the best. My favorite life lesson I’ve learned recently came from my MOH (via her mom, I think):

“You can have ANYTHING you want, but you can’t have EVERYTHING you want.”

I like it because it applies to everything– finance, dieting, wedding, and just life in general. Life is about choices.

You can’t reason with crazy.

If it walks like a duck, talks like a duck, it’s a duck.

No one can make you feel inferior without your permission and no one can make you feel anything.

You will not like every person you meet in life and not every person you meet will like you.

Everyone has the right to be treated with respect.

Just because you gave birth to someone does not automatically give you the right to treat them like shit.

Ditto Corgi…Life is about choices.

I follow the Thomas Edison credo: “Genius? Nothing! Sticking to it is the genius! I’ve failed my way to success.”

When things are getting hard or scary or nasty, you’re making progress. Keep pushing. 🙂

everything in life is like a coin… one side is bad/evil but the other side is good… Dont look at just one side of that coin 🙂
