@minipenguin:  I love your marquise! I think that people might not think they like it because I never see it in flattering settings. But yours is gorgeous! Also, HI! Soy tica πŸ™‚ I don’t think there are too many of us here!

My ring has such sentimental value to me.  It’s exactly what I wanted and more.  But I will admit that there have been times I’ve felt DSS (diamond shrinkage syndrome!) where I wouldn’t mind if there was more finger coverage!  I have also really grown to love old european cuts and someday, perhaps for a 10 year anniversary gift I would love a honker OEC in a vintage style setting!

@AshleyR83:  Your ring makes me love cushion cuts even more! Does yours have larger facets, or does it have the crushed ice appearance?

@icanhearyousmile:  I KNOW that’s the thread that got to me too!!!!! Ugh but in the end, I still love it…. I fell in LOVE with the marquise and the oval but loved the marquise a tiny bit more…. I loved that I had never seen another one in person, how much they sparkle and that they are classic but depending on the setting can be trendy. Mostly I loved how it is completely different from any other shape, it isn’t derived from another one… I’m having mine dipped right now and I miss it so so so much πŸ™ your ring is gorgeous btw! I love the setting and the proportions look great!

@joya_aspera:  that was poetically worded, an “inherently beautiful cut… ” I must say I completely agree! Thank you so very much for the cheerfulness and kind words

I think the only securities I have about my ring are the baguette stones in the halo and the fact that it is princess cut. I always pictured myself with a round. We got the princess because it had the type of setting I wanted. At the time we could not find a round with a similar setting in our budget.

Since my setting is Art Deco, sometimes I notice little imperfections in the filigree design in the basket (underneath) part of the ring. Other than that, my only issue is the series of questioning I recieve from strangers, co-workers, and classmates on a daily basis:

“Why is your ring pink?” –It’s not pink, its a RED ruby halo surrounding a diamond–

“Oooh is that your class ring?” –No, a class ring? No–It’s my engagement ring.–

“Are those chocolate diamonds?” –The center is a diamond, but it’s a ruby halo.–

“You look so young to have picked a ring like that, it must have been passed down in your family.” –No, I just love the style, and it’s what I always wanted.—

“Did you choose a halo to make the diamond look bigger?” –Really?! No, I love rubies, I wanted to incorperate them into my engagement ring.”
