We have a tradition of making nachos together with ALL the toppings 🙂 We try to keep gifts to under $20. We go all out on Christmas and Birthdays so we try to keep Valentine’s super low key and just spend time together.

We don’t celebrate V day because we both think it’s dumb. Every once in awhile we do cards and make dinner together when we feel like celebrating V day. If I feel moved to get him a card, I let him know “hey this year I got you something small” so he doesn’t feel bad about not getting me an acknowledgement. But we don’t get cards every year or anything.

We like to plan romantic dinners throughout the year, but never on Feb 14. The restaurant will be a lot less crowded, the servers will be less stressed, the food will arrive quicker. Make your own romantic holiday!

Our anniversary is on Feb. 11, so we skip Valentine’s Day.

We keep it small. Maybe a card, flowers and dinner at home. His mom lives with us now, so we will probably do a nice home cooked family dinner.

For us, it is crazy timing. We jsut got through the holidays and for me Janaury is my busiest time of year for work (I am a sales manager at a gym) and I am basically a total mush-brain in Jan and Feb. My b-day is the 29th and then we have V-day. So we just kinda lay low while I recover from working insane hours and days in a row lol

We’ve always skipped Valentine’s Day. I personally don’t like it for a number of reasons but it’s also my birthday the day before and I’ve always preferred more fuss for my birthday. Our dogs birthday, the anniversary of when we moved into our house and our wedding anniversary all occur within February so we have lots to celebrate anyway (which means February is also an expensive month and we can’t really warrant more money on useless gifts).

This year, my husband is on a training course and not getting back until late and I’m thinking I might go for a meal with my friend from work (for my birthday, not to pretend to be a couple or in protest or anything else).

My Darling Husband is normally out of town for work over Valenties. He travels most of the winter for work, and sometimes I’m able to fly to him and sometimes not. If it’s year I don’t go to him, I usually just grab dinner or a movie with girlfriends.

Do nothing, and then wait until the day after, to go look for some good chocolate on clearance.

BEEelegant :  We are seeing Boyz II Men in concert! Our wedding story is kinda crazy, but they sang at our wedding so it will be that much more special to hear them live again just a couple months before our second wedding anniversary.

We don’t typically do anything – though we might make a bit more effort with the meal plan for that day.

We’ve stopped giving each other Christmas/V-Day cards, with the exceptions of the ‘firsts’ – so in 2019 we’ll do V-Day cards as it’ll be the first husband/wife ones for example.

Fiance actually goes on his stag do on the 16th, and I have a four day weekend, so maybe we’ll do something on the Monday when he’s back.

We were both previously in marriages where the spouse wasn’t into V-day, so we both appreciate it as an excuse to have a nice loving night together.  He usually gets me flowers and a little gift, we order our favorite takeout, we cozy up and watch a movie and drink a bottle of wine, and we have some nice sexytime 😉  We’re ttc and I think I’ll be ovulating right around VDay this year so we will definitely be getting it on!

eurasianbee :  This is an amazing tradition that I might steal. Nachos are my all-time favorite thing! So much respect.

This year we’re going to a restaurant that specializes in grilled cheese. Their menu must have 20 different types. It can be loud with kids, but it is SO worth it, especially since grilled cheese is my second favorite thing (nachos always come first.) Last year we went to a fancy Indian restaurant that I love and their special holiday menu was AMAZING, but I’m honestly more excited for this year.

Because grilled cheese.

We never celebrate Valentine’s Day and we definitely never have plans a month in advance! In our entire 8 years we have never gone out to eat because I find the idea of all the 2 person tables so cringey. We might buy a nice bottle of wine and cook dinner or go out to eat somewhere nice on the weekend but neither of us place much importance on the day. We don’t even do cards or anything.
