I use vaseline as makeup primer (straight up, I’m drier than the sahara desert and have excema) and I LOVE the way it makes my skin smooth and dewy, but I constantly get crap from people (I work in the beauty industry).
I have also been known to bust open vitamin E gel caps and use that as primer…
What are some of your strange beauty habits?

I use aquaphor on my eyelids pretty much daily because they dry out so easily. Generally I put it over some cream eyeshadow (like a mac paint pot or benefit creaseless cream eyeshadow) and people are always telling me my eyelids look dewy. If I didn’t they honestly peel and its horrible!
AND if you do some research, Marilyn Monroe used vaseline as makeup primer!!

I wash my face with toothpaste. Keeps it from getting too oily and zaps zits. I used to steam my face but now don’t have the room.

I only wash my face in the shower. I can’t stand just washing my face. Ialways get my hair and clothes wet and that’s so uncomfortable going to bed. I strangly have pretty skin.

I love using honey on my skin. Just rub it onto my face (and all over when I have the freetime and extra honey), let it set for about 10-15 minutes, and then get into a nice hot bath to scrub it off. Leaves my skin so soft, and I don’t need to use face moisturizer for 3 or 4 days after!

@indibee: Oh that’s a great idea! I was mixing honey into my tea tree oil shampoo and it really helped with the dryness!
How about not really washing your face? I don’t really do it very often even though I have a clarisonic. I find that washing my face actually makes it break out more than leaving the little bit of make up that’s left on my face at the end of the day.

I always get manicures and my nails are usually polished but for the few days that they arent, I moisturize my cuticles and nails with Aquaphor before bed! I love that stuff. It’s great for chapped lips, which it seems my lips are always chapped in the winter.

It doesn’t seem too strange, but I like using honey instead of chapstick or Carmex. And I scrub my face with sugar. I read another bee’s advice to mix sugar with your shampoo- tried it and love it. I haven’t broken out since and saves me money on facewash!

It isnt that weird but my Fiance thinks Im strange for using apple cider vinegar on my hair a few times a week. It makes it so shiny!

I love vaseline, too. I don’t leave the house without applying to my lips and elbows. I go through so much vaseline.
I don’t brush my hair when it’s wet, it breaks. I blow dry so I can brush.

I *ONLY* brush my hair in the shower. The way I see it – it breaks no matter what I do, but I’ve got SOOOO much hair, that I don’t care either way. At least when it’s wet it doesn’t hurt at all. I normally do it when I’ve got conditioner in, and the brush goes through nice and smoothly!
I also only like washing my face in the shower. I hate getting water all over everything! If I don’t take a shower at night, I’ll use makeup remover wipes as my cleanser, then use part two (toner) and three (repairing treatment) of my proactiv regimen.

@nineteen87: How exactly do you do this? Do you thin it out with water?

@jjmomma: What kind of sugar and shampoo?
I just put a thin layer on my already wet face and let it sit for about 15-20 seconds (I’ve built up a tolerance)

Another Bee suggested Bag Balm in a thread a couple of months ago and I have been using it ever since. I put a little on my face and it keeps it well moisturized and dewey looking.
I also use it on my elbows, knees and any other dry spots.
I also use clear mascara on my eyebrows to keep them from going all over the place! I have this one hair that always curls under and it drives me absolutely crazy
Other than that, I also take a salt bath and least once a week to help with any muscle aches and to help relieve skin issues ( my Fiance has psoriasis and I have horribly drk/flaky skin in the winter)
