I’m new (but a long time lurker!) and finally planning my wedding. I’m having a major dress wobble and need some reassurance.
I’ve never been the big meringue dress kind of girl and thought I’d found the perfect Grecian, simple, but with a bit of bling dress and now I’m just not sure. I think it’s because it was cheap (£200 down to £60 in the sale, bargain!) and I’m thinking everyone will know it wasn’t expensive…stupid right?!
Anyway, what are your thoughts on the dress? Does it look cheap? I’m planning on wearing it with a single tier floor length plain veil – do you think that will be OK?

The lack of support around the boobs makes it look like a nightgown…but I think it’s very pretty. Could you try it on…and maybe see what it would look like with bra cups or something?

I think its beautiful! It doesn’t look cheap! It will look great with a simple veil.

it doesnt look cheap, just make sure you get the right under garments! 🙂

Not a fan either. I think the way the cup area is shaped looks odd. Love the back though.

I think, imo, it’s a little too plain and nightgown like, and as said before, there doesn’t appear to be any support in the boob area which I think lets it down a little. It looks much better from the back though

I think it’s beautiful and not too overstated, however I would have to agree with OP concerning the top. You will just need to wear something that gives a lift! 🙂

I think it’s very pretty–in fact I recently saw a picture somewhere of someone wearing a similar dress. To me, whether or not it would look cheap in person would be determined by whether or not it’s real silk– but I’m a fabric junkie and I can see things like that 😉 Depending on what social circle/culture you’re in, probably most people won’t notice that!
It does look a bit nightgown-like– I think with more beading around the waist, under the breasts, on the back, etc. it would look more formal and dress-like. Maybe if you added some kind of wide, interesting silver-and-bead belt?

It is plain, but I wouldn’t say it looks cheap. I like the back.

@mittenpie: Sorry to say but I agree, it looks like a nightgown probably because of the lack of structure, style and the spagetti straps. It’s not the cost.

it’s pretty but with all due respect, i have a nightie like that.

It doesn’t look cheap. What type of venue are you getting married in? Are you comfortable in it?

It’s a lovely dress and I think the pleats make it look a bit more expensive. Perhaps you can add some support around the bust around and then it’ll have more shape.
I don’t see the nightie comparisons, especially a lot of dresses nowadays look like nighties and vice versa.
