I bought a Kate Spade diaper bag two years ago.

I helped my friend pick it out at the Kate Spade store when she was preggers.  She wanted one with bows and frills and I picked a sleek black, cross body bag for her instead.  She told me that she loves it and it worked out so well for her.  It doesn’t scream diaper bag and still has all the necessary pockets –and her husband isn’t embarassed to use it.

Well, a year later I was in TJMaxx and saw it for $60 bucks.  I figured if I didn’t use it, it would make a phenomenal shower gift for someone.  My friend paid $300-$400 for it.  It was the same black Kate Spade cross body bag only with a different color interior.  I bought it and threw it in back of the spare bedroom closet.  My husband has seen it but I can tell that he has no idea what it is and probably thinks it is an overnight bag or something.  I can’t wait to tell him what it is when we are ready to use one. πŸ™‚

We have just started TTC this month but I have had a secret pinterest board for a few months! Darling Husband knows about it but I don’t want any friends/family to know.

On honeymoon I wanted to get something for our future baby and Darling Husband agreed and said that was sweet so we ended up getting a large white Thai Jigsaw Lamp for the room.

I also have been slowly collecting books.  I am a teacher and we get catalogues of cheap books every month (they go home for parents to buy for their kids too).

I usually buy a couple each month out of my own money for my class and I have been buying a few for home too, they are so cheap usually around $3 – $7 and I just get ones that Darling Husband or I loved as a child or classics, such as the Very hungry caterpillar etc.  I think I have around 14 now!

I have pretty much decided what decal I want but am holding off until we actually get a BFP and past the first 12 weeks.

Darling Husband and I have a whole mess of baby stuff, though recently our collection has exploded to epic proportions. We have a ton of friends who are pregnant, about to be pregnant, or who have just had babies so we usually keep a small stash of nice things to use as part of a baby shower basket/birthday gift/stuff we’d like to use someday.

However, in the past month I came across a massive sale of designer baby stuff and bought pretty much the whole store. Darling Husband and I are about to start TTC in a couple of months and are not superstitious, plus we can always use things for gifts. We now have a handful of Zutano outfits in every size newborn to 24 months (gender neutral with a few girly items thrown in for our friend who is having a girl in November), a couple boxes of Trumpette socks, some organic Eleanor hooded towels, some organic cotton blankets, a couple Zutano bibs, a couple Zutano hats (can you tell I love Zutano??) and some handmade leather shoes. We’ll either use things for our own baby when we have one, or give them to friends πŸ™‚

We have a bunch of hand-me-down clothes from my sister that we keep stashed in the spare room’s closet, but they aren’t really “baby” clothes. I only have maybe 4 baby-size clothes in the bunch.

We also have a hand-me-down Cozy Coupe or whatever they’re called – the red and yellow cars kids can ride around in?

We haven’t actually bought anything, unless ovulation tests and pregnancy tests count. Lol.

OH but I do have a major Pinterest board…one for cute nurseries and one for cute kids ideas. I feel a bit weird but a lot of my other newlywed friends have one too so I caved. πŸ™‚

@MrsHoneyC:  I am too superstitious πŸ™ We are TTC and I haven’t bought anything. I saw lots of bees like to buy onesies to give to their DH/parents as a kind of reveal when they are telling them they are pregnant. I might try this πŸ™‚

I didn’t buy stuff before or while TTC. I didn’t even start buying stuff until 2nd trimester when we did get pregnant! If we have trouble getting pregnant, or if we lost the baby early-on, I didn’t want anything around to remind me.

(The only thing we did buy was a breast pump shortly after I found out I was pregnant, because between a sale and coupon, I got a $300 pump for $200.)

i just inherited an old wood rocking horse that my grandfather made for my Mom when she was a baby.  It’s beautiful.  But VERY weird seeing it in my house just sitting there.  I am pretty superstitious about collecting things before conceiving.

I have a book panel which hasnt been sewen up yet (its john deer and I got it because of the sheep on it). There is a quilt I made to sell which I decided to use to compete with which I hope to use for our kids (its a beautiful batik quilt I themed after birch trees and the moss that grows on them). I really want to get more but am so worried about not being able to have children when we try so I dont expose myself to that.

I just bought a book on cloth diapers as rec’d be someone on here. Other than that norhing. We should be able to stry TTC early next year, but Darling Husband would think I was nuts if I bought too much. He already raised his eyebrows at the book. I think I am more excited than him though.

@nzgirl:  I wanted to start one, but I dont want friends to see the board. Is there a way to hide if from followers? Know one knows except two people we are planning to TTC. Everyone else isnt even sure if we really want kids so I dont want to advertise it.
