My FIs big thing …. the thank you notes!!  He really wanted to get some sort of picture with us in dress and tux holding up “Thank You” signs to put on our thank you notes for after the wedding.  I love the idea and was totally for it.

But then I told him we needed to get some sort of thank you note to send to people who mail us presents beforehand (we just got the first one from our Best Man last week).  He flipped and thought it was silly to mail any of them until after the wedding and about how he’s never gotten a thank you for a present he mailed until afterword.  He then proceeded to say that if not everyone would get the card with the picture then we just shouldn’t even do them.

Trying to compromise, I said we could send thank yous to people beforehand and send the photo thank you afterwrods to everyone.  Then we could thank the people who sent gifts (who’d already gotten a card for the gift itself) for joining us on our sepcial day, how much we enjoyed celebrating with them, etc.  He also thought this was silly and insisted we not do that!

Oh my gosh all of these posts make me laugh so hard! Boys are so weird.

Pretty much, my Fiance has only really cared about my dress. SO far, he has said:

No mermaid. They’re ugly.

No poof. I don’t want you to look like a cupcake.

No sleek blackless gowns, they look like prom dresses.

No Short/tea length gowns. I want you to look like a bride, not like you’re going to a party.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.

Hehehehe. Love this thread. I wanted black bridesmaid dresses – he was appalled. He talked it over with his mom, and she was okay with it, so he gave in. He is also obsessed with the seating plan. I don’t care who sits where, but he’s organizing it like a small miliatary operation. The only other thing he was adament about was having a served, 4-course dinner. Other than that, he’s been happy to go along with whatever I wanted.

Mine had opinions about so much! I had no idea he cared, especially since its his second wedding. His tux was an issue. He cares about the cake. Our wedding china and silver was a surprising issue to me. But most of all, its the colors. He is so specific about what kind of reds and greens….and the reds are only accent colors!  Its nuts, who ever though a guy would care so much about the difference between cabernet, burgandy, and wine?!?!?!?

One thing I thought my Fiance would totally latch onto was the food, but I’ve had to fight every step of the way to really get him thinking about stuff. Luckily I think we’ve got it figured out AND it’s definitely worthy of a “culinarian”.

THe first odd thing that my Fiance has spoken up on happened today. Sure, he was opinionated about the limos, cake, and some other items, but he insisted on buying my shoes for me.

It is rather sweet though, he wants us to have ‘matchin shoes’ for the wedding. He will be in his white uniform and wants me to wear the white pumps tha female officers wear. How can I say no to his puppy eyes? 🙂

Haha..these are all too funny.  I have an opinioned Fiance on my hands…

Save the Dates- he HATES the onces I picked because they had a belly band. He lost that battle, but his friends love giving him crap about the belly band because they know it makes him upset.

Invites- they had to be pocketfold (and they are). No calligraphy, no floral anything.

Cake- he wanted to have donuts instead of cake.  But my grandmother is paying for it, so we are having wedding cake and using donuts as favors instead.

Colors- no purple, no pink, no yellow, no orange.  So basically, my choices were red, blue or green 🙂  I went with mint green and silver, so far he seems pretty happy with that.

Venue- omg, venue shopping was tough.  He insisted on looking at every venue with me and my mom. Nothing traditional anywhere, or he would nix it.

Photographer- no corny poses. He isn’t super excited about our photographer, but I’ve sold him on it because they are a couple and they are only charging us $500 with full printing rights for 6 hours.

Mine is pretty willing to let me do what I want….but! There were 2 things (actualy 3) that he will not give up on… Me wearing my hair down and the garter/bq toss. I had at one point gotten him to agree that if I let him add one set of people to our wedding party we could do away with the nast garter/bq thing…but some how both were snuck in some how. The hair thing is not so bad untill he decided he wanted me to let it grow out some more. Wedding is in 2 weeks and I kid you not the hot, too curly mass will be chopped the day after before we leave for the honeymoon.

Of all things, he is MOST adamant about my dress (I thought I got to pick it? lol), he is insistent that it have straps/strap of some sort and be within the ‘white’ family i.e.: he really doesn’t like the idea of me wearing a red/yellow/green/purple dress (not that I had really planned on buying an orange dress or anything).

He was also really opposed me wanting bright blue or coloured shoes of any kind.

“Won’t that be like, distracting or something? Aren’t you worried about it not matching?”

Uh, yeah hun, that’s kind of the point. XD

Colors- No pink.  I have a Martha Stewart Wedding magazine that features pink weddings.  I think some of the pictures really disgusted him for some reason and he is adamant against pink of any kind.

Invitations- He seems to think these are super important.  I’ve been trying to tell him we should just get the cheapest ones possible since we don’t have a large budget, and he gets upset.

My Fiance is very concerned about our guest book of all things. I told him I wanted to do away with it and his jaw about dropped. If I didn’t tell him that I didn’t want a guest book he probably would not have even thought about it. He says he wants to “Read guests signatures 20 years from now.” I thought it was kind of funny/cute.

Cake shape – Square Tiers.  No discussion, he just stated that was what we were having.  lol.  Oddly enough, the baker said that was pretty common?

Oh, and he is paranoid about seeing my dress or hearing any details about it.  Even if someone is looking at a picture or talking about it, he leaves the room.  He just can’t risk it.  It’s adorable.  :o)
