I think the colour you posted above would look fine.  Eggplant would also look good!

I found this and I think it looks awesome:

I don’t know if that’s the same military uniform as your FH but maybe it’ll still look good. I know you said no red but this is more of a crimson than cherry.  🙂

i think that would be fine! i’m having a marine wedding also and my girls are wearing turquoise dresses w/ coral boleros. i don’t really care if they match w/ my fiance’s dress blue or not. i figure the marine corps has enough control over our lives right now, i’m not letting them dictate my wedding too, haha.

I think grey would look just lovely, I have been to a few military weddings where they had gold Bridesmaid or Best Man dresses, they looked lovely and very fall. Eggplant would look nice too, though I would have to see it next to the blue.

Have you thought about a red colour that isn’t cherry? like the colour Mrs.D-To-Be:  posted?

I am with you here. I am also marrying a Marine (I am a former Marine), and I told him no to a military wedding. As nice as the dress blues look, I think that they wear them enough during the year and I think that the groom needs to be comfortable as well and to me, being a former Marine, I kinda think blues to wear for a wedding is overdone. Our colors are Fushia, Ivory, Black, Eggplantish, and Cobalt blue (maybe darker) for our Sept 15, 2012 wedding this year. He will be in a tux 🙂 and the Bridesmaid or Best Man will be in eggplant or the darker blue with touches of fushia in their bouquets. I think the brown color looks very fallish and so lovely.

I love the color you posted.  Eggplant, like a PP suggested might work also.  What about a dark yellow/gold shade?  That would be really nice for a fall wedding!

I’m doing a gray color like the one you posted and my father will be in uniform.  Don’t overthink it!

One of my dear friends just got married and they are both in the Navy.  They DID choose to do R,W,&B but it looked amazing.  The BMs wore white, as well.  If you did that, you could have whatever other colors and pops that you wanted.

I was in a Marine Corpse wedding and we wore green. I think a champagne color like this would look amazing next to the dress blues though.

Weddings with guys in gray suits and ladies in navy are super popular, so I think the reverse would look fantastic. Guys in dress blues with ladies in gray.

I’m not sure the browns would work with all the colors in the uniform.

I think a charcoal gray or even a softer concrete gray with yellows and lots of interest in the dress shape/fabric.

I think flowers is where you can have a lot of color, what you’re describing with the dahlias and eucalyptus sounds beautiful.

With so many different colors in the guys enemble, where you have to be careful is having too much color in the ladies total outfit. I’d keep the dresses a more neutral color (grays, navys, creams) but make sure they have a lot of interest in the cut and style — full length, with a detailed neckline or waistline — and do a lot of color and texture in the flowers and amzing hair–maybe all down with curls.
