august or Lawrence??
august or Lawrence??
August with “Gus” for short.
I voted Lawrence but honestly I think both are fab names! Only went with Lawrence because I have a bit easier of a time imagining receiving a resume/CV with Lawrence vs August and that’s my “name test”.
But I love both 🙂
Lawrence is such an elegant name. I like elegant names.
August is a very hipster name, which I can appreciate, but I would never name my child a hipster name lol
I loooove August! It sounds so fab!
Lawrence just reminds me of Lawrence Fishburne.. which makes me think of all of the Internet memes with him in glasses, starting with “ what if I told you….”
Maybe I’m just weird though 😂
I don’t know why, but I just really don’t like the name Lawrence. Never have.
I think August is a nice name 🙂 And the potential nicknames are much nicer too. Auggie or Gus are both cute for a kid and would still work nicely as an adult. The only one I know of for Lawrence is Larry… which is just.. no.
It’s hard to choose! I really like them both! I think I like Lawrence a little more though (probably because Littel Women is one of my favorite books) but I don’t think you can go wrong with either one.
I do hate Larry as a nickname though.
Lawrence! But I don’t like any of the nicknames. I don’t like any nicknames for August either though… Gus always reminds me of this guy 😂
It seems like people are pretty split on the names!
thanks for the feedback bees, love hearing other perspectives
I like Lawrence better, perhaps because it’s a classic and very elegant, and I’ve been seeing a loooot of Augusts around here lately. Seem to be becoming very popular, which isn’t inherently bad, but I personally don’t go for popular names.
I do like the names Lorn or Lorne or the french version- Laurent. Agree with PP as I am also not too fond of Larry, a common nickname for Lawrence.
I chose August, simply because I’m not a fan of the name Larry.
I was surprised to see someone refer to August as being a hipster name. I’m in my 50s, and the name August was very common for people of my grandparents’ generation. I actually knew of, or have known, at least five men or boys named August over my lifetime, and they have spanned from the Silent Generation through Milennials. One of the oldest was a doctor.
Lawrence! But I think I’m a bit biased as this is my husband’s middle name, spelled exactly the same, and I plan on having it as a middle name for my son one day.
