I got my ladies Kate Spade cosmetic pouch & matching silver bracelet. I also bought their dresses & necklaces for the wedding. I signed up for Kate Spade emails so I got a discount & free shipping. I also didn’t want anything with bridesmaid or anything plastered all over it. Every girly girl (which is my bridemaids, without question) need a nice cosmetic pouch to keep in their purse so I figure they will use it again.

I like the idea of a nice silk robe that DOESN’T say “bridesmaid” on it.  I have one and I love wearing it on the weekends in the summer.

I plan on getting them a cosmetic pouch like the PP stated and I’m buying their dress for them, I gave them a few guidelines (long, any shade of darkish blue or green and flowy) since its neutral and not exactly bridesmaidey I hope they’ll wear them again. And I hope to buy them each a really nice lip stick and eyeshadow/eyeliner/mascara for them to wear. We’re all in our early 20’s so expensive make up usually isnt something we splurge o. and I know they’ll wear it.

I purchased the jewelry for them to wear at the wedding. I know they will be definitely wear the earrings again as they are cubic zirconia studs from the limited. I also plan on getting my girls either a cosmetic bad or maybe a new wallet/clutch. I received these in the past and have always used them! Not sure what else though.

@princess_r:

I am making little kits for my bridesmaids. I have included:

Things to relax them before the wedding:

  • Bath salts
  • Lotion
  • Bath sponge

Things to use on the day of:

  • $5 starbucks gift card (they love their coffee)
  • Small packet of tissues
  • Chap stick
  • Flip flops (to change into for the dance floor)
  • Earrings & necklace to wear with their dresses

Something for after the wedding:

  • Photo frame for a pic of the bridal party (I will give them a photo later)
  • Technically they can wear the jewelry later

I custom decorated the bags with their initials. In total, I spent about $25 per kit/bridesmaid.

In addition to some kitchy spa stuff, a massage, I’m also getting the ladies a short spa robe with their name on it.

I personally LOVE robes, I have 3 light silky ones I wear when it’s hot, 2 fleece robes for cold days, 1 black stretchy robe for feelin glamorous, and then 1 bath robe with a hood for after showers.  So IMO a spa robe is definitely a wear again!

I did tote bags (because I and my friends all use them all the friggin time) filled with goodies – everyone got a pampering set – bath soak & shower gel, bath bomb, cuticle oil, lancome eyeliner, chapstick (in a lipstick case), kleenex in cute little box, several mini nail polish bottles, and a picture frame with a picture of the two of us – then an individual gift for each tailored to their interests. The individual gifts I know they’ll use, the other stuff, idk, but it seemed more traditionally bridesmaid-gifty.

I bought necklaces for my ladies, and then a bridesmaid clutch that I’m going to fill with day-of items that they might need.

My friend got me a small coach bag (bigger than a clutch, smaller than a work-size bag) that I use all the time whenver I go out.

I’m a  huge fan of selecting different gifts for each girl – like you would for her bday or Christmas.  The bridal industry works hard to push matching gifts because they are the ones that sell all that stuff.  Shop for each one individually.

I bought them each a turkish cotton bathrode that was monogrammed with their first initial. Then, I got them each a large Landsend tote bag. I’ve heard each of my bridesmaids complain at some time or another they wish they had a better tote bag to use as carry on luggage, so I’m hoping they can use them for that 🙂

Then, I’m throwing in a small gift card for each of them based on their individual interests.

I gave mine some giant candles from St. Judes, floral-printed reuseable shopping bags, wooden hangers with their names, and tubs of lotion. I felt like all these gifts were things they would use outside of the wedding (my sis got me jewelry when I was in her wedding party, and I haven’t worn it since; same with my old roommate).

From an Etiquette perspective…

Bridal Party Gifts come in two categories…

The things that you give to the Bridal Party as part of the Wedding… so when it comes to the LADIES (same rules apply to the Groomsmen as well) … if you decide to pay for any of the following… Dress, Shoes, Purses, Hair, Make-up, Jewellery, Getting Ready Robes…etc

ALL OF THESE THINGS do not go towards the concept of Thank You Gifts

That is totally seperate.

A Thank You Gift for each Bridal Party Member should be an item that you choose personally… and fits each girl’s personality.  It should be an item outside of what is happening in your Wedding… and the Thank You Gifts should not be all matchy-matchy (ie getting everyone the same set of earrings) as that implies that you didn’t do any real thinking on the subject besides walking into one store and ordering 3 identical things.

Nothing wrong with getting the girls earrings IF that is what they’d like / are into.  BUT then you’d be selecting earrings that would fit each girl’s style (bearing in mind that you want to spend the same aprox amount on each girl).

Stuff to think about,

Hope this helps,
