I’ve only seen it once, but someone had Candy Corn. They could have put Skittles in that jar! (Oh, well. Maybe it was their favorite or something.)
What candies do you never grab from the candy buffet? Also list your favorite, if you feel like it!

I dislike candy corn, skittles, and almost anything fruity.
I’d go for anything chocolate.

@EffieTrinket: for mine, i just went to a bulk store and purchased any sweet candy in my coulour scheme(black, red, gold, white) I kept all black candies to a cherry or berry flavour …and added choclate bars that had wraopers in my colour scheme (mars barsin black wrapper with red print, crunchy -gold wrapper, coockies and cream in white wrapper. The only candy I had left was a red gummy candy that I bought a lot of from the bulk barn because it was the cheapest and I wanted to fill a large jar…everything else was gone half way through the night…it was a hit.
@This Time Round: I understand how you think this is trendy..I actually don’t like trends..but I like saving money more and a candy bar was a cheaper option for the wedding favour that I knew people wouldn’t throw away…so I did it…and people loved it.

@This Time Round: I have never been to a wedding that has one. No one in my family has never done one, and I’ve never heard of friends even talking about weddings that had them. I think this may be either one of those cases of “it looks overdone because we are all reading the blogs all the time, but others won’t think so,” or it’s a location-specific thing. We also tend to be a little behind the times around here 😀

Ick I hate candy corn, too. Also licorice or nibs! My favourite candies are those little sour watermelon gummies.

I don’t care what candy is there. If there are options then I don’t have to take the things I don’t like.
I really hope the candy corn was for a halloween themed wedding!

@EffieTrinket: Chocolate stuff is always the biggest hit. I personally love chocolates and lollies with the opaque stuff (pinapples, racecars, strawberries and cream, that kinda stuff)
I steer clear of liquorice and aniseed – I cannot stand the stuff. Makes me hurl, ick!
I wish we had candy corn so I knew what it was haha!

To @EffieTrinket: fair enough… but I went to a fundraising event a week or so ago (not a Wedding) and this year’s big attraction was a Candy Bar… last year it was a Photo Booth.
When a fundraiser is “doing it” then IMO it is on the way out as far as trends go.

If I can buy it at a grocery store, it’s not going to excite me. There are so many great sweets out there; a special day warrants special treats!

I hate it when all the candy is in the wedding colors so there’s just limited flavours. I was at a wedding a few months ago that had purple and white as their colors, so the candy was either grape flavored or plain. Some good stuff, but kinda boring after a while. Besides, their purple was a dull mauve-ish color, so the candy bar looked kinda dull, rather than bright and interesting (candy is supposed to be exciting!).

I wouldn’t take boiled sweets, they’re just boring and I’d in gonna consume empty calories it had better be worth my while, haha.
@FutureMrsHallam: I’ll take chocolate any day like you and streer clear of licorice and aniseed, haha.
I don’t really care if the lollie buffet matches the theme. If I were to have one at my wedding, it would be full of the sweets Fiance and I love like the Allens chew mix (redskins, sherbies, milko chews), natural confectionary company party mix, darrel lea orange bb’s, cadbury favorites, pods, blocks of our fav chocolates (smarties blocks, rolo blocks, cookies and cream milky bars, cadbury marvelous popping candy chocolate, etc). I think our lolly bar would rock!

I have only attended a couple of wedding that had candy buffets but I have to say I will never tire of them!
The first was my DD’s. Her favorite candy is Whoppers and her DH’s is Good and Plenty (yuck). Those were our first two choices and then we filled in with 8 other candies, not color coordinated. I ordered a 5 lb bag of salt water taffy online and when it came I did a quality check for freshness. Oh, it was fresh all right – all 5 pounds disappeared and I had to order another bag! When that one came, I just gave one piece a good squish from the outside fo the bag and left it closed til the wedding.
I can’t remember everything we chose for that one but I do remember getting a bunch of ring pops for the kids. Good thing I got extras because a bunch of the adults took them too! Didn’t expect that.
ETA: what do I hate to see? The colored coordinated candy all in the same flavor/2-3 flavors. I also detest licorice but I know many who love it so they can just have my scoop of that.

@itsmeetam: you pretty much just said all of my favourite lollies then. Love the Allen’s chew mix, so good, sherbies and milko’s and red skins!! Mmmmm yum
I love most lollies but hate anything licorice or aniseed flavoured.
Love chocolate and fruity lollies equally 🙂

While I think they LOOK great, I haven’t ever seen anyone take and eat one of those giant swirled lollipops. Guess they save them for later!
I agree with the color coded options. Many of them are the same flavor with not enough variety.
