    We’re in a similar situation and are opting for the pracitcal car. We aren’t TTC yet but, want to start making a big dent in getting that car paid off so that when we do have kids, we’ll have the extra money instead of having to sink it into a car payment every month.

    I’d buy a practical car.

    I really don’t see a point in you guys owning 2 “fun” cars.  And if the Impala is going to starting being a money drain then obviously it is not the best plan either (although I wouldn’t think an ’07 should be having consistent mechenical issues – you sure this isn’t a one time thing and then you could get many more years out of it?).
