Ok, so here is my dilemma…
I will be getting the band seen in the picture from Helzberg. The ring usually comes with a round center stone, but I am thinking of making it into a marquise instead. I am posting a picture of the original ring as it is and then the same band with the marquise setting. What do you think looks better? Thanks!

I picked round but I really really hate the look of a marquis, so I’m obviously biased. It’s really all about what YOU love. The only warning I would give is I have heard people say that marquis cut diamond tend to catch on things because of the points, but I can’t confirm that from personal experience.

I prefer the marquis in this setting because the round diamond seems too small for the setting. It almost looks like its diameter < the width of the band. The marquis cut makes the diamond stand out as the center piece of the ring.

I normally don’t like marquis cut stones, but it does look better in the photo to me. Maybe if the round center stone were bigger it wouldn’t seem quite as lost in the band that has so much going on. But don’t get me wrong, both are really pretty, I just think the marquis cut highlights the center stone better.

It’s really hard to tell from those stock photos because of the angle they’re on. I say go with the round, but I am biased.

I think the marquis looks really lovely with this band, and very unique

I picked the marquise because the band is on the thicker side and has all the other stones, I think the round diamond gets lost. The marquise stands out a lot more to me!

I think if the round diamond were larger I would much prefer that. It currently appears too small for the band though. But if the size of the stone is as pictured, I’d go with the marquis even though in general I really don’t care for them.

I love the look of the marquis, especially with that band. The center stone will really stand out.

I really like the look of the marquis with the band. Since the band is so thick, the marquis goes with it well.

Thanks for the feedback, guys.
I should have noted the stock photos are not true to form. The diamond would be a 3/4ths carat, in either round or marquis.

I think I agree with the others… when you see the band with the diamond itself… if the round is wider than the setting I would go with that. If it is smaller I’d go with marquise.
Side note: I <3 your avatar so much!

@CorgiTales: Ha, thanks! You have a nice Corgi avatar yourself! He’s laughing. =)

DEF the marquise. I’m not usually a marquise stone fan, but it looks really nice in your setting.

I agree with Corgi!
I have also heard from a few people about the Marquise being sharp so I would deff ask around if thats what you deicde on.
