Growing up my favorite traditions were going to pick out a Christmas tree at the tree farm, cutting it down and bringing it home to decorate. I also loved the tradition of getting in the car and driving around town to look at all the Christmas lights on peoples houses.
Our traditions now with our kids are opening a present on Christmas Eve that has new pajamas, slippers, coffee mug, popcorn, assorted snacks and hot cocoa mixes. We make cocoa and popcorn, get in our PJs and then watch Christmas movies. We will also make cookies for Santa on Christmas Eve.
What is everyone elses favorite traditions?

@NurseMandie: +1 to cutting down a tree at the Christmas tree farm 🙂 I LOVE real trees and refuse to have fake! Also it has to have colored lights not white…
We always open a present on Christmas eve, and leave homemade cookies out for Santa.
We also have a huge turkey dinner on Christmas day.
Sounds pretty similar to yours 🙂

We had lots of Christmas traditions that I haven’t really carried into my adult life for various reasons. I always loved decorating the tree growing up, and still love baking Christmas cookies! For me the most important tradition is the big family meal we do with my aunts/uncles/cousins on my dad’s side. There’s about 30 of us and there is always so much laughter and fun times!

Traditions that my kids and I love:
making Christmas cards for family and friends
taking the annual Christmas card picture
Opening inlaws gifts Christmas eve
Reading a Christmas story Christmas eve night
waking up Christmas day to more gifts (from us) under the tree… we spent the monring together just us with the kids.
Taking the anual picture by the tree Christmas morning in their jammies
Traditions I love: making goodies for family and friends. wrapping the kid’s Christmas gifts late Christmas even night after they’ve all gone to bed.

I miss getting together with my cousins, aunts and uncles. Everyone moved out of state so its hard to get together. Plus now I have kids of my own so we have Christmas with my parents. I feel bad for my younger cousins who are still in high school/middle school. We had extended family holidays until about 7 years ago. So my younger cousins really don’t know what its like to have a holiday with all your cousins and aunts.

My housemate’s mum makes amazing cookies, muffins and cakes, so normally we just eat those while watching Christmas movies haha. Today it’s apple and cinnamon choc chip muffins, I’ll Be Home for Christmas and Love Actually 🙂

My mom, my sister, and I get matching Christmas PJs (my little brother gets PJs too, but his don’t match ours lol) that we open on Christmas Eve. We’ve done that every year for 20+ years now, but recently my sister & I have started our own little tradition of taking a bunch of goofy pictures in our PJs with santa hats on. I’m not sure how or why it happened, but last year we also incorporated some fake mustaches lol. I look forward to the photo shoot every year!

I enjoy the family aspect. And the morning church service is always warm and lovely…
… but I also really love the food! Cooking it, sharing it… it’s great! If I cook, we always have goose. So much more traditional!
