I’ve been experimenting with tissue paper pomanders to hang at our ceremony and after putting one together using a square piece of foam, I’m now wondering if I could get away with using them as part of the centerpieces?
Real flowers are so expensive (and I’m a bit perterbed by how quickly they die), but I thought perhaps if I used these poms I could put more of my budget towards lights or crystals to really jazz up the centerpieces.
It would also give me a lot more time to put the centerpieces together beforehand so there’d be less running around the day of the wedding.
Do you think my faux flowers in disguise might be viewed as tacky?
Here is one partially covered (not done!) to give you an idea…

I think that it is preference really, I personally do not find it tacky, but I am sure that there are some that would.

I really don’t like the word “tacky”. To me it doesn’t really describe anything, besides your particular dislike for something.
Honestly, in my opinion, I don’t like what you have going on. It looks like a paper flower to me! I understand your dislike for real flowers , but you have many options.
I’m not saying paper flowers are ALL bad, I just don’t think the ones you pictured are centerpiece quality. Perhaps you could look up tutorials on how to make more realistic ones? Otherwise, you could always go with silk flowers [which still look fake, but I think they’d be better than what you currently have!], or foam flowers. It really depends on your budget though!

To start with, I hate it when bees ask if something is “tacky”. That is so judgemental and hurtful to another bee who may have used the same idea.
Paper pomanders are perfectly ok . Just google “pomander centerpieces” and you will see many examples using coffee filters, doilies, tissue paper etc.

The next picture is supposedly paper, but they look pretty real!

And I love the idea of these roses.. they obviously look like paper, but they are very clean looking.

I don’t find it tacky. But who cares anyway?! If you like it go with it!… I’ll probably do something like this also!

I only find something to be tacky if it’s rude…so it’s pretty much impossible for a centerpiece to be tacky/rude, haha. I think they look cute!

This is a tacky centrepiece. Try not to go down the PBR path and you will be fine 🙂

I love the look! I think paper flowers actually look really nice personally, plus they are creative. Go for it! I’m a very rational person and I can’t justify a ton of money for something that won’t last either so this is something I’ve been thinking about doing.
