I picked out the cute fascinator I had my eye on forever. It’s a light ivory, and it matches my diamond white dress perfectly. Rather than buying a “pre-made” birdcage veil. I’m just buying the netting and cutting it to size myself to save some money (cost is like $4, instead of like $15). My only question is what color netting should I buy–white or ivory? It reminds me of the mens shirt question…the ivory might be too yellow against the diamond white dress, but that also might be more subtle against my skin; the white netting might actually be a little brighter which could be nicer in pictures.

Take your fascinator with you to help match the color. If the diamond white looks nice on your skin the white netting should as well. Personally I would want the fascinator to match the netting because that’s what’s going to be so close, I wouldn’t want those colors to be too different.

It depends on how white the netting is. You probably don’t want the veil to be a brighter white than the dress. That’s the advice the associates gave me when I bought mine. If your veil is a whiter white than the dress, your dress will look dingy in comparison! True ivory will probably be a bit too off. So if you can, I’d say choose a white, but make sure your dress is either a tad brighter than the veil or the exact same shade, if you can match it.

I would use an ivory netting (as diamond white may be a little bright/harsh over your face) and work the diamond white into the decorative part of the fascinator- are you using feathers/flowers etc? you could use a mix of bright white and ivory then, which would be in keeping with the dress but also be less harsh on the face
