@pppuser852:  Interesting, I went with yellow and really liked it.  I went very light though – did you do a brighter color?

@SaraP2012:  Our kitchen is celery green with one red accent wall! It doesn’t work for everyone, but we love color!

I really, really, REALLY love a rich or bold color against white cabinetry. I think that it makes the space feel even more open as opposed to closed off. You have a lot of natural light, so that could work really well with it, too.

We just terminated a contract on a house yesterday, but the front contender for the kitchen would have been a deep navy  or rich chocolate against white cabinetry, here were some of my inspiration pics!:

This is a lighter blue, but I thought it looked really pretty with the darker counter tops and open floorplan:

I also toyed around with a bold backsplash with more neutral paint, which you could easily do with such a large and nice space:

This is the chocolate color I liked a lot:

The reason why I liked the idea of bold kitchen walls is because it’s such a small space and portion to paint, and it can make a really huge impact for relatively low cost and effort. Your kitchen is beautiful, I love it!

Ours is a light yellow (it’s extremely similar to lemon sorbet which is actually the “color of the year” according to BM) and I think it’s a nice color for a kitchen. Our dining room is a really bold navy so the contrast is nice I think.

I really like to warm tones in a house.  It makes me feel cozy.  I am lucky that our new house (eek I love saying that) was painted by the previous owners in colors that I was actually looking at!  So our new kitchen is a warm orange-ish color.

We did a medium shade of green. Valspar makes it.

@SaraP2012:  Here is the link to my post when our offer was accepted.

Our kitchen is no where as big or gorgeous as yours but we will remodel it in the next 2-3 years. There are other things we want to work on before the kitchen and since we will only work on the next project or upgrade in our new home with cash in the bank it will take some time to save up the money. We will not go into debt to remodel.

The oven and exhaust fan above it are new, the house did not come with a refrigerator so we need to buy one and the dishwasher currently in the kitchen is from 1986 and white so we decided to replace that now as well.

We make settlement on April 15, once we are done at settlement we are going right HH Gregg to buy a new refrigerator and dishwasher. Even though the kitchen itself is outdated at least our appliances will be new energy efficent models. Depending on our budget after the huge settlement down payment, we may replace the exhaust fan over the oven with an above the range microwave/exhaust fan. However if that $250 dollars is needed elsewhere like a lawn mower, we will leave just the exhaust fan in the kitchen for now since its brand new.

I did a ton of research regarding the best model refrigerator/dishwasher to buy at several different stores, I would go to the stores write down model numbers I was intersted in and go home to look up reviews. We have found that HH Gregg is offering the best price, free delivery and bonus rebates on two models we are interested in that had great reviews and are energy efficient.

It’s been alot of work and stress but so much fun!

We did our kitchen with Valspar Sea Spray. It’s a little more on the grey side than the sample on the Lowe’s website looks.
