I am planning on using OPI’s Princesses Rule. It’s a light, shimmery pink that looks very pretty in the sun. (I hate it’s stupid name though.) (No, these are not my hands.)

Ugh, I am 5 months away from my wedding (August 20th) and feel stressed about this… I know, stressed. About nailpolish. It sounds even more ridiculious as I type it.  My dilemma is deciding between red nail polish or a nude french manacure? It sounds simple, but I’m hoping to achieve a retro-vintage chic wedding and somehow seem to get lost in the details of it all. Exibit A: I know my dress is coming in soon and I will need shoes to begin the whole dress-fitting thing… shoes that are yet to be determined in color. I have been thinking about picking a colored shoe, but fear it may come accross as too trendy: think red, grey, black, champange, or yellow (I know, I know… I haven’t figured out  “colors” yet, but I have an inspiration board– so at least we’re getting somewhere, right?).

Anyway, back to the nail polish- if you have colored shoes, I begin to question, is it okay to have colored toenial polish? Thoughts? Would it be too much to have my red nails and a colored shoe? What about the color of flowers, red? Or makeup, red lips or more natural? I want to achieve my retro wedding without coming across as too ‘campy.” Can you tell I’m seeing “red?” My fear us that too much color will look “dated” Help. Gahhhh… my mind races as I think about it all. I love the feedback from this post. So many ideas.

@ms.notebook: I would say, depending on what color shoe you’re going with depends on what color you should paint your toes. If your shoes are a neutral color, I’d say go for the red polish, if they are something different, I would stick with a neutral colored polish or french manicure. As for nails on your hands, I think that the french manicure always looks timeless, so unless you’re going with red on your toes, I would stick with the french manicure on your hands (if that’s what you’re going for). I’m in the same dilemma as you are btw…I have a vintage lace keyhole back dress, black heels, and I’m incorporating pink into my makeup. So I think I’m going to do a french manicure on my hands, then a pink on my toes that matches my lipstick, but I don’t know because I’m still confused. lol

I hope that helped a little? lol I’m sure you’ll figure it all out once you get your shoes and dress and see them together!

Here’s the pink I did.  I wanted a softer, dusty rose and wasn’t too thrilled with the Pepto/Barbie pink I got.

I was going to do black since I love how it looks in photos but after a recent photoshoot and staring at my fab nails, I got to wondering, ‘will I like them when I’m a showing my grandkids my wedding photos’? and I probably wouldn’t so I am doing a natural french.  (Basically french without the huge tip of white that most nails have)

I normally wear bright colors on my nails but was thinking of a soft blush or pale pink for “the day”. However, Fiance (who never voices an opinion about my appearance one way or the other) said something about hating pale/blush pink nails because they look “old ladyish”. Sigh. Back to the drawing boards.
