I want to start thinking about painting our living room. We just ripped up the carpet to reveal a medium/dark hardwood floor. We have dark red leather couches like the photo below. The living room is large and open with a lot of natural light.
What color would you paint the walls? We’d like something bold and we’ll have a wide, white trim around the windows and doorways.

What colors do you like? Or what’s the style of the rest of your house?
I personally love yellows and reds together, but it’s not for everyone. If you are unsure of going too bold/bright, you could always do an accent wall and then paint the rest a neutral tan, like what is in the photo.
P.S. Ahhhhhh! Baby T is so new in that photo. 🙂

If you want to go really bold and aren’t afraid of going too dark, I think a navy would look good with the wood and dark couches, but I would definitely incorporate some lighter colors – or maybe do a single accent wall with a bold/dark color and do a taupe or grey for the rest?

Would something like this color (guest room at YoungHouseLove) work?

I love dark blue like the PP.
However… dark wood, dark couch would make me want to paint it stark white and add the pizazz with the accessories.
Also neautrals really bring out the floor and emphasise as that as the feature.
Also… if you didnt like those ideas. How bout wallpaper? There are some fabulous prints around!! I have seem some prints on ceilings and they look really good because you choose something neutral and it wont clash majorly with the furniture or be too close to the floor!

I’d go grey. With the hardwoods, reddish couches and some nice white trim grey would be neutral enough to accesorize with some toss cushions and a nice carpet maybe some metallics all without being too bland.
