So I have 9 (yes..9) bridesmaids. The dress is in color lapis-which is very dark purple. Their bouquets are going to be lime green gerbera daisies with a crystal in the middle of each daisy, wrapped in lapis wrapping with lime green criss cross ribbon. The dress has a crystal broach on the right hand side of the hip. Pics included.
Anyway, I wanted to get each a nice shawl (the reception might be a bit cooler because it is air conditioned.) I was originally going to get them white shawls and get myself a lapis colored shawl. However, with their flowers being lime green and my sister telling me that ‘only the bride should be in white’ I’m wondering what you think of lime green shawls? Would that color combination look hideous? I know that the lime green flowers really pop out against their dress, but I’m wondering a green shawl would be too much? What are your thoughts? Thanks!

I vote for white shawls if you really want the green bouquets to pop. I don’t agree that only the bride should have any white on her — my bridesmaids will have white flowers and shoes. But just make sure that the shawls are the same color as your dress — if your dress is ivory, their shawls will make your dress look dingy!

@likelimeade: Thank you! my dress is white.

Personally, I think a lime green shawl would be too much. I was thinking white as well, but maybe you could do a black, brown or grey? Do you have a tertiary colour you are using?

I think white would look great and wouldn’t detract from you at all.

I agree that lime green shawls might be a little too much and detract from the bouquets. Do you have any subtler accent colours? Otherwise, I think the white shawls could work!!

@Classique: White is actually the third color in my wedding lol. My bouquet will be all white and the centerpieces will be white roses, green gerberas and they will also be on the cake.

I vote white as well. No one is going to get confused if someone other than you wears white. All the focus will still be on you!

I agree with the ‘too much lime green’ I think white will look fantastic with that dress and those bouquets.

I would recommend silver shawls with those colors. I think they would look beautiful!
ETA: You know, just looking at the layout that you posted on this thread, I think you could even consider a light periwinkle, which actually would be a tint of the lapis.

I think the whole “brides should only wear white to a wedding” is not a worry ESPECIALLY if its the Bride who picks the bridesmaids shawl to be white. I vote with white, and cant wait to see the end pictures!

@samanthajkellie: Can’t wait to show you the end pictures!
