When the siding repair is done, going to go ahead and give the house a fresh coat of paint. I’ve been leaning toward a dusky or dark blue, but not too dark of a navy, or I’ll lose the details in the siding. SO thinks a moss or olive green might be nice. I personally think green will blend too much with the grass.
What do you think? Please share example pictures with paint color names if you have them!

I would always vote blue! lol
And are you going to do an accent color on the front door?

meredith178 : I hadn’t thought about the door! But once I decide on the exterior paint color, I’ll probably not like the current door color and decide to paint it.

Have you considered yellow? I LOVE the look of yellow houses. Unfortunately my neighbors have a yellow house and I think it might look strange if there were two right beside each other 🙁

My husband wanted an olive green house… I wanted blue. He won, and guess what, it clashes with the grass! I’m still sad that we didn’t go with blue. I don’t know this paint color name, but this is my favorite shade of blue for a house. I’m not sure if it’s considered “dusky” or not. Please show us a before after!! 🙂

I second yellow. Yellow houses look so cheery. And then green accents.

Blue would look nice, super cute house! Seconding the accent door color cause we just did that lol
We just painted our door so that I would stop complaining about our awful siding color (mushroom/dark beige?) that won’t be changed for another couple of years
(Our house is a work in progress so excuse the horrible stoop/walk, storm door and fence/gate lol but I love our door though!)

I’m a fan of grey with white trim (possibly black accents) and doing a pop of colour with the door. Something like this (although this isn’t the same style of house):

What color are your neighbor’s houses?
Is your roof grey or a shade of blue?

bouviebee : I don’t know if this exists in the USA but where I live the biggest player by way of paint brands offer you the service of a color consultant who comes to your house with a million swatches and works out what color would look best for your house. They spend an hour and select paint for inside and outside and basically give you paint colors for everything. It costs $150 but they give you a dollar back per litre of paint you buy up to a 100 litres. (so it only costs you $50 for the consult)
We’ve done a few houses this way using the same color consultant who is a qualified interior designer and it’s made a hell of a difference to the final look of the home. Our current house was ugly as f*ck outside and looked like the previous owners were colorblind. Our house before painting was an ode to poo shades. 🙄
Honestly look into this option to see if it’s available where you live. It’s worth the outlay and definitely do pick an awesome color for your front door! It’s not really done where I live but our color consultant that we use is originally from the UK where cool colored front doors are a thing. She picks great colors for our front doors and it’s something people comment on when they come through our house or when they’ve purchased our previous ones.
Blue or grey tones would be the obvious choice I’d think for your house but as to which shade I don’t know.

sparkosity : coffeebean87 : I do like yellow houses, but SO is not at all on board with yellow, unfortunately.
echomomm : That color palette is awesome! I would probably want more shutters and/or accents to make it look balanced. I’ll have consider how that might work.
Kings7911 : This is a shade of blue I would definitely consider. It’s not quite navy, but a substantial blue. I don’t think I would lose the siding detail in that color. Now I have to find it. I consider dusky blue to be darkish, but with some gray in it.
cmsgirl : This sounds like an amazing service. I’ve never heard of it in the US, but I’m definitely looking into it now!

bouviebee : Sherwin Williams offers the service that cmsgirl suggested. I’ve used it and it’s really helpful. Even if you decide “okay, medium-dark blue it is”, there are many choices within that and the consultant helps you work through them until you narrow down to the right one. Other paint companies might offer it to, I would think it’s kinda standard. But I know for sure SW does. And whatever the service fee is ($50 maybe, can’t remember for sure) you get that same amount back in a SW gift card so the service is actually free.

When we re-did the outside of our last house we went with grey with black shutters. It looked so awesome. Then we moved to a bigger house that is yellowish with green shutters- I’m not a fan. Looking forward to when it’s time to update this new house- I’d go grey and black again.
