We will be having our recpetion in an open gallery in a library. It is very plain with floor to ceiling windows on one wall and military photos on the walls, FI loves history. We are having the ceremony be cream in a small theater, we will have awesome lighting from the house lights. For the reception I found the perfect setup, we are having 40 guests so we can go dramatic and already have our eyes on long tables.
What color hydrangeas, tablecloths and chairs should we do? I was thinking dark/saturated colors. I was thinking dark purple hydrangeas. The chairs are difficult as we bought two old wingback chairs and will get them covered in a velvet to match the colors so not sure the lucite chairs will work. What size candles should we grab, tea lights, short pillars, medium pillars? Thougts?

@minted: Purples sound like they could work! I was also thinking…navy blue tablecloths, with the blue hydrangeas could be beautiful too! This is such a dramatic reception table – I love it!

So pretty!! We are having around 40-50 guests and we’re doing one giant king’s table as well, I think they’re so gorgeous! I think purple would be really pretty. Honestly I like the idea of purple with a white tablecloth, or maybe even a champagne color.
We’re doing chivari chairs, but I don’t know if that would go with your vision or your wingback chairs…
In terms of candles I like doing a mix of different sizes. I don’t usually like things that look too perfect, if that makes sense? Mixing them just seems more romantic and less proper IMO. I think votives and short pillars intermixed would be beautiful.

@pengoala: I love the idea of doing blue, that didnt even cross my mind
@adoc86: we can do chivari since they are an option but wasnt completely sold, but maybe the white tablecloth and white chivari chairs? Im so bad with decor.

@minted: I think white, mahogany or even gold chivari chairs would be gorgeous. It took me a while to decide on our table details too, it can be hard when you have to put it all together in your head rather than seeing it in front of you. Good luck!

@adoc86: I’m so bad at visualizing everything together. It’s probably the reason we can’t even figure out a color for the reception yet. We’ve made everything else black and white so we want color just can’t decide

I would use gold chiavari chairs, dark purple tablecloths and switch the hydrangeas to white. I think that would be very dramatic on the dark purple tablecloth. You could accent with lots of candles in varying heights, maybe gold chargers with white dinnerware. It would look very regal in the old library setting.

@adoc86: My vote would be jewel tones….to me the colors are gorgeous and the dark purple you are thinking already fits the tone of jewel colors
I would do a mix of different hydrangea to give it some dimension….maybe different shades of purple or any other jewel tone color hydrangea comes in
I like the idea of doing gold accents possibly gold chairs, chargers

@weddingbound: If you did the jewel tones what color tablecloth would you use
