I LOVE VSQ! I’ve been meaning to download a whole bunch of their remakes just for my own listening pleasure, but always thought I’d use “Yellow” by Coldplay to walk down the aisle to. My Boyfriend or Best Friend and I love alternative music, so being able to use a lot of the songs we like would be great when the time comes. Some great non-traditional songs we like include:

  • Yellow, Coldplay
  • You and I, Ingrid Michaelson
  • Everlong, Foo Fighters
  • Miracle, Foo Fighters
  • Just Like Heaven, The Cure
  • I Will Follow You into the Dark, Death Cab For Cutie
  • Crack the Shutters, Snow Patrol (”Chasing Cars” isn’t bad, either, but it’s overdone.)
  • Question, Old 97’s (I cry just about every time I hear this song… what a sap.)
  • My Best Friend, Weezer
  • Echo, Incubus
  • Stellar, Incubus
  • Lovesong, 311 or The Cure
  • Friday I’m in Love, The Cure
  • Stir it Up, Bob Marley
  • Fix You, Coldplay
  • Invincible, Muse
  • Til Kingdom Come, Coldplay (Mean-spirited fact: I’m glad Johnny Cash never got a hold of this song.)
  • Hard to Concentrate, Red Hot Chili Peppers
  • Such Great Heights, The Postal Service

I stole all the songs from a blog post I wrote on this very topic not too long ago 😉

We will be using ALL contemporary music I believe!

Walk down the aisle – somewhere over the rainbow

First dance – So far away – Staind or Crash Into Me – DMB

Bouquet Toss – Single Ladies

That’s all I have for sure so far – but it will all be contemporary!

We used several movie soundtrack songs in our ceremony, including Phantom of the Opera and Braveheart.  I wish we could have used more!

my processional was an instrumental of Con Te Partiro (sung by Andrea Bocelli)
