Phoenix – 1901 < Birdy – 1901
That song turns me into a total sap, I cry every time I hear it for some reason, it’s so sad.

Miley Cyrus’s remake of Girls Just Want to Have Fun. Orgional by Cyndi Lauper.
I’m making a music mix to jam to the morning of getting ready and I don’t want a whole bunch of luv-y dov-y songs, but rather songs all my girls can enjoy while we get ready! This one is deffinately on it!

I was thinking the exact same thing as I was reading through this thread.
As for mine, these are the ones that immediately came to mind (though there are probably others):
– Pretty much all Marilyn Manson covers (“Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This),” “I Put a Spell on You,” “Tainted Love,” etc.).
– “Love Don’t Live Here Anymore” by City and Colour (originally by Rose Royce and also previously covered by Madonna).
– “Tonight I’m Going to Wash the Hippy” by Alexisonfire (originally titled “Tonight, I’m Gone” by Moneen).
– I’d say I’m 50/50 with liking the cover and original of “When the Levee Breaks” (Led Zeppelin original/A Perfect Circle cover) and “Imagine” (John Lennon original/A Perfect Circle cover) because both versions are great and have very distinct sounds.
– I’d also say I’m 50/50 with the cover and original of “Smells Like Teen Spirit” (Nirvana original/Tori Amos cover) for the same reasons listed above.
– “Real Men” by Tori Amos (originally by Joe Jackson).

I’m a classics kinda girl but there’s just some covers that I prefer more…
Wild Horses – The Stones gotta give it to The Sundays on this one though.
Hurt- I loved the NiN version until I heard Johnny Cash sing it.
All Along the Watchtower- Jimi Hendrix (I’m a HUGE Bob Dylan fan but man, Jimi definitly has this one hands down)
Ain’t She Sweet- I really do prefer the Frank Sinatra version the most
Bad To Me- Billy J. Kramer and the Dakotas, even though it was written and preformed by the Beatles orignally.

Sublime — Summertime (I guess this isn’t exactly a cover, but it’s loosely based on the song by George Gershwin)
Nirvana — Son of a Gun (original by the Vaselines)
Garbage — Can’t Seem to Make You Mine (original by The Seeds)

I like Adele’s Natural Woman better than the original.
Roberta Flack vs The Fugees “Killing Me Softly” is even for me.
I love Cake’s version of “I Will Survive”
Johnny’s Cash’s Hurt just breaks me dang heart.
John Coltrane’s “My Favorite Things” is AWESOME
And I know it’s cheap to pick something from a tv show, but Afro Blue’s performance of American Boy on The Sing Off is one of my favorite covers EVER
