I took up knitting last spring, and I love it. I tend to do this in spurts, though – knit madly for a few weeks at a time, then put it down for several months. I’ve made mostly little projects- hats, mittens, scarves. I like the near-instant gratification of using bulkier yarn, too.

I was going to take up cross-stitching, but gave up after a few minutes. I might return to it in the winter time. Seems like my crafting bug is more active when it’s nice and cozy in the house.

I have a photography business on the side. Mostly portrait work but I’ve been second-shooting weddings for about a year now and am looking to go into that solo. Definitely fun/creative. I also quilt, which I find very satisfying when I’m making things for other people. And I recently went to a “wine and canvas” class with some friends of mine and was kind of shocked I was able to make a decent-looking canvas with the help of the teacher! I don’t know about you but the things that keep me motivated creatively (which it is dumb that I need motivation but I do) are either doing it WITH someone or doing it FOR someone. I’ve never been good at creating for creation’s sake.

Sewing! I wanted to learn for awhile, and finally asked for a sewing machine for my birthday last year. With all the online blogs and tutorials, I was able to teach myself pretty quickly and I’ve made a lot of cool things, including dresses for my nieces.

I work in a law firm. Very uncreative.

But I like sewing, I love sewing. I like to read. I also like photography and writing. But sewing would be my passion.

Baking, decorating cakes. I love how I can spend hours and hours decorating an amaizing cake for it to be gone in less then 30 minutes. But to see the customers faces is sooo worth it! I crochet baby blankets, I love crafting, anything I can think of I craft, glue, sprinkles.

I’m addicted to rummaging through Michael’s for projects.  I do a little bit of everything.  I can’t seem to finish a project either.  lol //  Lately, it has been beading/reparing jewelry.  I get paid for those projects so that has been consistent.

@OneOfTheseDaysAlice:  I worked in insurance too, and had the same creative deficiency. So much so that I’ve abandoned that to pursue a museum career putting together exhibits. I understand where you’re coming from!

My outlet while I was in your shoes was meetup.com. I joined a comedy writing troup, and we developed skits, and hilarity. Painting, sewing, knitting, building shadow boxes and all kinds of goodies also helped.

These days, I love going thrifting and looking for furniture goodies that I can overhaul and make pretty again.

@mnp:  Is that a work-from-home type endeavor, or do you work for yourself?

I work in a creative field (graphic design) and my Michael’s bills are through the roof.

I sew, paint, use my design to diecut vinyl on my Cricut (see below!), make wreaths, design (of course) stationery and things like that. Here are some of my recent creations:

@StuporDuck:  I actually work in an office.  The ladies at work give me their pearls to knot; antique jewelry to repair; and, beads to restring.  I do it for my coffee money.  Love my Starbucks!

@LizLemon: Those are awesome!  I’ve been eyeing a Cricut but I haven’t taken the plunge to buy it yet.

@mnp:  You NEED to! I cannot tell you how many things I have done using my Cricut! Stencils for burlap pillows (posted below), car decals, and I’m working on a front door mat now. It really allows me to be super creative in all areas.

I write. I used to write novels, but now I stick mostly to short, funny pieces.

And amazeballs Weddingbee comments, of course Smile

I’m an accountant by day and an actress by night!  Acting is how I met my husband 🙂

This is me as Annelle in Steel Magnolias!
