Knowing that wedding trends come and go, which of the current ones do you love or dislike. For me, I think strapless gowns are overdone and too common; yet, they make up about 90% of styles being sold in bridal gown shops. Btw, one bride’s preference doesn’t necessarily mean it’s “right” or “wrong” for everyone or every circumstance…

I’m personally not a fan of the birdcage/net veil. Seems everyone is doing them! A trend I LOVE however are the wedding websites! Paperless RSVP is great! I agree that strapless dresses are overdone, and when I went out to look at dresses I was determined to find one with one shoulder. But I couldn’t find any I liked, and my Mom and BMs told me that my upper body would be accentuated with a strapless. Of course I found a strapless dress that I love!!

Ditto on the the bridcage veil – not a fan. Also not a fan of ruched dresses.
I love the trend of having non-white wedding shoes and hope it’s here to stay! Love the trend of embellishing the bridal bouquet with bling or something meaningful on the clutch.

@Frukaj: Agreed, I’m crazy for the colored wedding shoe!!
I like the Thumbprint tree trend too, I was suckered into it. One I’m not a fan of is the first look trend.. I understand they do it a lot for time restraints, but I think it’s ruins “that magical moment.”

Love the non-white shoe trend! About time.

I’m not personally a fan of dropped-waist gowns. There are some gorgeous ones out there, but in general I think they’re not that flattering, particularly on my own body shape.

I love candy buffets! It’s like trick-or-treating. Bring it.
I don’t care for the yellowed, vintage photography trend. One or two pictures? Fine. But one of my friends whole albums was like that, and it was too much. I’m also over strapless dresses.

i KNOW I am in the minority with this one, but I don’t care for the mashed potato bar at the cocktail hour. I know people love this but for some reason the mashed potatos just don’t do it for me, and I don’t like the way they look in the martini glasses

I never realized strapless dresses was a trend…hahaha. I guess it’s like puffy shoulder sleeves back in the day…
Trends I love: photobooths, colored wedding shoes, and midnight snacks.
Trend I hate: non matching bm dresses. I like things to match!

I never knew that I would be so opinionated about mashed potatoes, but they DO look weird in martini glasses!

@mightywombat: I always thought dropped waist gowns looked weird and that I would wear a natural waist. When I went shopping, the consultant had me try one and it was the PERFECT shape for my short torso and ended up being the most flattering on me.
This reminds me of another trend I dislike – empire waist! They have the opposite effect on me – being short torsoed/high wasited, they just make me look pregnant no matter how thin I am. I hated when I had to wear empire Bridesmaid or Best Man dresses, but apparently they flattered “everybody”…

I hate wedding with too many nick nacks on the tables and decorting the room old books, shutters, empty frames, suitcases, kettles, etc). Not to be mean, but when overdone, it looks like a rummage sale…

@yellowshoe: I’m the opposite. I love non-matching Bridesmaid or Best Man dresses.
What I’m not fond of is burlap. I guess it can be used well, but generally I think it’s ugly even for a rustic wedding.

HAHA – I am wearing a strapless dress, with a birdcage veil and pink sparkly shoes. We are doing a thumbprint tree, late night snacks, a photobooth AND mismatched Bridesmaid or Best Man dresses (same color, diff styles). I am a walking modern bridal cliche! Oh well, I still love all of it!

I like things trendy. I think when I look back on my moms wedding photos “oh that really fits the time period and I love it”. I don’t like the cookie cutter always white cake, always white dress/shoes/long veil look with basic flower centerpieces on white cloths. I like things to be different. That doesn’t mean u wont like it years from now, it just means when u look back u will see all the things of that time that we’re important or special to u and your Fi.
