I am DIYing mine, so it will definitely be unique. Hopefully not in a crappy way. 🙂 Also (not sure this is decoration, but it’s definitely unique) we’re having a SKUNK!!!!! (descented) at our cocktail hour. Or possibly a small alligator if the skunk is “unavailable.” We’re getting married at a zoo and one of the perks is you can have a small zoo animal visit.

We had a very, very modern wedding with lots of geometric features (it was at the Museum of Contemporary Art in San Diego)

Aisle decor:

Manzanita centerpieces with geometric mirrors that I made:

The brightly colored chairs:

And the amazing ceiling (ignore red/green lights – for some reason our uplighting photographed weird instead of as the yellow it actually was):

Not married yet, but I want to have our ceremony in this modern newly renovated downtown garden. I think it’s a pretty cool spot.

It was necessarily the decor that gave a unique detail to our wedding, it was the food.  We served a chinese food buffet.  We put chopsticks and a custom message fortune cookie out for every guest.  It was a huge hit!  Very unique for this area.

@crayfish:  Wow, everything looks so beautiful, I especially love the colored chairs!

Our wedding was in October so most people were expecting “fall colors” but there wasn’t a lick of orange or brown anywhere. Our colors were burgundy and champagne with black/cream/gold accents.

Our theme was Italian Film Festival and I worked pretty hard to carry that throughout. It wasn’t a “movie” theme though, like a theater, it was really more the “film” part that we tried to bring out.

The theme started with our invitation suite, even the envelopes had curtains on them:

I made our ring box and included this film strip with a quote from Love, Actually:

I made programs out of that same film strip design from the box, but I can’t find the photo of those.

I made little signs for the reception area for the bar, the gift table, the guest book, and a menu at each table, all using different pictures of film strip backgrounds in gold tones. The gift table and guestbook table also had a little bit of film reel confetting sprinkled on them. Here are a couple of those photos:

Instead of table numbers, we did table names, all of famous romantic movies. Each table had a small centerpiece made by myself of a gold film reel, a small movie poster, a menu, a single burgundy hydrangea, and burgundy and champagne candles.

The favors were little boxes of popcorn, even the kernels matched our color scheme:

And then our (very small) cake for cutting was also placed atop a film reel. We only had this small one for the tradition – our main dessert was a gelato bar. Also, the topper has literally zero to do with our theme, it’s just sort of an inside thing, little crabs are (believe it or not) quite a romantic part of our relationship.

Our ostrich feather centerpieces were my favorite part of our decor.

Our room had pink uplighting and pin spots on the white feathers so they looked like they were glowing. It was very dramatic.

@Meowkers:  I never tire of seeing your wedding photos

I think the architecture in our venue is pretty unique, but the most unique decor is probably our china (sort of a lame answer):

We had meaningful quotes around the reception.  They were from books, songs, and movies we love.

With a pic of us in our college stadium.

Plus funny signature cocktails.

@Mars62312:  I just saw a sign like this on Pinterest that I want to do for me and Fiance.  It’s from the song crazy bee which he sang and played the guitar for me when we met!
