My Monique Lhuillier was very light silk jaquard, but it was also very expensive!

Whole designer lines? Probably none lol there are some designers who do destination wedding lines that are lighter.

the lightest dress i tried on was monique lhuillier candy. It was SO light… But the matching veil made up for that…. It was SO heavy lol

I found Casablanca to be like this, and that’s one of the main reasons I chose them!

Maggie Sottero was consistently heavy! So much extra boning and fabric in the inside of the dresses, I just started avoiding them entirely during the dress searching process. Even their dresses I expected to have a flowy, airy feel did not.

When I think light, flowy dresses, I tend to think Watters, Wtoo, Sarah Seven, Elizabeth Dye, Theia, Hayley Paige, Anna Campbell, Rebecca Schoneveld, some Claire Pettibone, J. Crew, Rosa Clara, Leanne Marshall, Carol Hannah, Ivy and Aster.

The Allure Romanc lace gown I tried on was very light (it was 2455). It really depends. I tried on one Maggie Sottero lace sheath that had boning (Ellie) and it was way too heavy, and another with no boning at all that was very light (Lark). I wouldn’t rule out an entire dress designer because you may miss something. I would check out the Mori Lee Voyage line; they should have dresses in your budget.

Pronovias. I wanted a light dress i could move in and not feel like i weighed 500 lbs. Pronovias are made in Spain so they are good for warm weather.  The entire line is made with light materials. My all lace dress felt like a cloud.

I tried on quite a few lighter dresses, which were all very lovely. One of them was a WToo (11502) under the Watters brand – simple and light. At that same salon, I tried on an After Six 1018 style that was just lace – so nice and light! If I was going to do a beach wedding, the After Six would have been my choice – as it fit well, felt great, and the price was nice (under $500).

I also tried on some very light Maggie Soterro gowns – which were mainly a slip and then a lace overlay on top (Sawyer) They still gave you a nice shape, but didn’t make it feel like you were weighed down. There were a couple others from that line, but I cannot remember their names.

My dress is ultra light and perfect for the beach 🙂 My wedding is on the water. The dress is $399 at davids.
