Well after talking it over with my husband and the epic saga of loosing my E-ring. (darn baby hiding it in his carseat!) It looks like we’re going to be buying a diamond in october. My husband works at a canadian diamond mine and each october they have the opertunity to buy diamonds at a wholesale price before they hit the market.
a) i am UBER jealous i cannot be there to look through the hundreds of diamonds!! -jealous-
b) i need to make a choice and narrow down my diamond shape options.
I’ve decided to leave my E-ring as is… for those who were sad that i was thinking of changing my set. No worries! it willbe staying the exact way it is. 🙂
So i was planning on taking this diamond and wearing it as a right hand ring or possibly wearing it on my wedding finger on occasion when i feel like having a change. Looking for some ideas for a setting… as my E-ring is SUPER blingy / stonefull. (is that a word? No… i dont think so) I was thinking of some sort of simpler solitaire setting.
Thoughts? on something that would look good with my wedding set / what shape of stone?
At this point i am leaning towards maybe a Cushion cut? Or maybe round? I figured i would give my husband 2 or three options of stone shape and let him choose one, so in the end the diamond choice will be a surprise.
Ps. How perfect that our 2nd year anniversary is in october. 🙂
& here’s my ring so you get an idea of what will be on my left hand.

I think pear or cushion would be a nice contrast with your oval. Also: how lucky are you?!

@Susanlee178: Oh! pear is an interesting choice too! DH has worked there for 3 years and we’ve never taken advantage of the oppertunity to buy one but we are at a point now where we can so i’m kinda excited about it. 🙂

@MrsHoneyC: I think a cushion would be lovely. It’s different from what you have now so you’ll have a bit of variety, but if you decide to wear it with your wedding bands, it will still jive. It’s nice to mix it up and have options, so that will be something fun to look forward to. October isn’t that far away, and I’ve discovered that when you’re a new mom, as you know, time flies so I’m sure you’ll have that new ring on your finger before you know it!

I agree that a pear would look nice with an oval on the other hand! 🙂

I personally would pick an OEC cut. Something about them just takes my breath away!

Cushion!! I’m biased, I’m a cushion owner and I love them! So pretty as solitaires too – just have fun with the decision! And definitely show us what you pick!

I can’t stretch enough how much I love your set! I’ve seen it on some other posts but never had the chance to comment, again, I love it haha
for an RHR a simple round solitaire would be nice, that’s what I use as an RHR right now so I might be biased haha
I agree with the pear shape, I wasn’t a fan of them but since I’ve been on the bee I have grown to like them haha there’s something so unique about them!

Id pick a cushion personally! Sooo awesome about your husband! 🙂

I would want to be there in person to choose a fancy shape :/
I think a nicely proportioned pear or marquise would be beautiful. Cushion would be nice too if you trust your husband’s eye to choose a pretty one. I’m super picky about cushions so I’m not sure I’d trust someone else to pick one out for me.

So cooooool! And you know you’re getting a nice conflict-free Canadian diamond 😉
I agree with getting a simple setting for your right hand, since your gorgeous set has a lot going on. Halo, colour, multiple bands…I would do a small solitaire, as you said…now what stone?…
A pear would have an elongated shape like your oval, which would look nice and balanced. It’s my favorite fancy shape personally.
A round is classic and you will never tire of it 😉
A cushion solitaire is bolder and more original than a round imo. It’s beautiful too!
Good luck with this awesome decision!

I vote pear also…. that would be pretty with your rings on your ring finger, or as a rhr..

@MrsHoneyC: so happy you’re keeping your set!!! lol
I’m a big fan of cushions, and I think it would be a nice contrast. So exciting!
