The Bride Magazine checklist says I should have bought some confetti or something about six months ago. I hadn’t really thought about it, but it sounds like a nice idea. There are so many different types, though, plus alternatives like lavendar, flower petals … tomatoes…
Did you have something thrown at you on your wedding day? If so, what was it, where did you get it, and can I pretty please see your lovely pics?

Nothing. It’s been a while since I’ve seen anything like that at a wedding in person. The latest thing was bubbles, and that was in the 90s.

Nothing here either. Have you checked with your ceremony location to make sure you are allowed to throw anything? I expect most places have a rule against it.
At my dad and stepmom’s wedding we blew bubbles.

Birdseed, since we had the throwing part outside and I figured it wouldn’t make a mess since it was a country location and the animals would eat it before the venue people would notice haha! I bought it at the grocery store, made little packets by hand from paper, and maybe spent $15 on the whole thing.
And, I put a note on all the packets to aim for the groom. It worked 😀

Bubbles are still used often and it’s what we’re doing because we’d be responsible to clean up any thrown sh…tuff.

@EffieTrinket: It didn’t show up too well in the pics, but my friends blew bubbles when I walked into the reception area (arrived late with Darling Husband to “make an entrance”). You can get those bubbles in the wedding aisle at Michael’s. It was a fun touch and no mess to clean up!

Bubbles, and it was great! Don’t have those pics back yet but the proofs I saw looked super cute 🙂
We got little personalized ones from Oriental Trading – 150 for $30

@EffieTrinket: Nothing. Most venues and churches don’t allow throwings of any kind (confetti, petals, rice) because of the mess it makes for them to clean. Even bubbles can mark furniture…
Fiance and I are thinking about a little splurge for our ceremony. If we have an extra 200$ lying around at the end of our planning, we’ll probably have a flight of butterflies …

We’re only allowed bubbles, and I’m not sure if we will do that or not yet. It’s really not that important to me. I think if we could’ve I would have done a lavender toss.

@EffieTrinket: I like the idea of bubbles, but I have to think about the logistics of the whole thing. We’ll probably be doing a receiving line, so do people wait outside for you to leave the Church? Or do we just quietly leave after we have excused everyone?

@EffieTrinket: LOL I like your tomato idea. I wanna see that..i just don’t want the tomatoes thrown out me…sounds messy

No one threw anything at us. Our ceremony location didn’t allow anything.
My cousin had…birdseed I think? It got ALLL stuck in the brides hair, dress, etc… actually looked quite painful and scary! It always stuck with me, ha!

Nada. I’ve never actually seen this happen at a wedding.

Ugh nothing… I didn’t want things in all my crevices.
