@LilLis:  +1 about the brides who had nothing!! ive never been to a wedding without confetti either!

our venue allowed anything, as long as it was biodegradable, we went for traditional confetti (with horseshoes, hearts and bells!) – tonnes of it!!

Our guests threw lavender, and it was so lovely – the smell of lavender reminds me of our wedding day. I bought it in bulk online and stuffed it into little muslin bags I ordered off eBay, and put one on each chair.

We arent throwing anything.

IMO it just seems like a waste of money (Id rather put that money towards the bar, decor, favors etc) Guests wont miss not throwing it one bit. Plus, some poor sucker has to clean up anything that gets thrown and I feel bad for the person who has to clean it all up and I know i’m sure as hell not going to be stuck cleaning up any confetti on my wedding day. This was an item we quickly crossed off the list.
