I get the point of the R and the Rehearsal Dinner. I am just wondering what other bee’s did at the Rehearsal Dinner, as for as formalities and toasts and speeches and such.
I am kinda clueless on this. I thought we were just gonna eat and hang out, but now I think I was thinking it was gonna be way more laid back then my Future Mother-In-Law is thinking its gonna be.

We’re going to pass out the wedding party gifts, made a short toast to my ILs for hosting, and thank everyone for coming. If anyone else wants to give a toast at that point, that’s completely fine – in my circle, the Rehearsal Dinner is usually a time to roast the bride and groom a bit. But we don’t have anything formal planned, we figured that we would just do this while everyone’s eating dessert.

It can be as fancy or casual as you want it to be.
For ours, we plan to have a quick rehearsal at the church, and then head to a restaurant down the street. We are having a sit down meal with our bridal party and parents and we plan to give our gifts out too. My Fiance wants to make a speech thanking everyone but thats it. It’s going to be pretty laid back. Afterwards we are heading to the hotel bar to meet up with out of towners.

Ditto to the above. We are having a sit-down meal at a local restaurant where we plan on handing out the gifts to our wedding party and parents. We will make a short toast to thank FIL’s for hosting, thank our wedding party and my parents and then call it a night.
One thing I chose to do – for dessert, I am surprising my Fiance with his “grooms cake” at the Rehearsal Dinner (rather than having it at the wedding)!

We did all our toasts at the Rehearsal Dinner, and they went on a little while, but it was fun. We ate, mingled, and then did toasts.

Fiance gave a speech, Fi’s Dad welcomed everyone, BMs put a slide show together for us, then the floor was opened for more toasts (My bro, Dad’s Best friend, his sis, others in the wedding party)

Honestly? We only did an actual rehearsel for 5 minutes, the rest of the time we were drinking, eating and fooling around. No opening of gifts, no speeches.

Did you plan the speeches ahead of time?

We just ate & chatted with our guests. My then fiance gave a short, casual thank you toast to everyone for traveling & helping with the wedding & being supportive of us.
