My birthday was on Sunday. I went to my friend’s baby shower and then went to my parent’s place for tea with my SO and immediate family. It wasn’t a milestone birthday, but I think every birthday should be celebrated. smile

My birthday is 2 days after FI’s.  We spent them both in Disney 🙂  He turned 30 and I turned 31.  The day between we went to a ridiculously fancy restaurant, drank way too much wine and watched the fireworks.

milksteak :  happy birthday! I was 30 in November. It was a disappointing Monday. I had 2 other couples over to watch a game. I made dinner and cake. I lit my own candles then immediately blew then out. Everyone was leaving. I basically had to beg them to have a piece. This was the first time in 30 years no one sang happy birthday to me. I didn’t even get a gift from DH. I will no longer be celebrating. :'(

milksteak :  Completely agree on the hosting/paying thing – I didn’t really know this was a thing until I joined the Bee and read a few other forums. In my experience, it’s really only major birthdays (ie a 21st or a 50th or something) where it’s expected that you will provide food and drink.
