Hello ladies! I’m trying to think of something to do for my husband. Our one year anniversary is 10 days after his birthday, but I already have something planned for that 🙂 I’m trying to find something to do for my hubby’s birthday which is March 3rd. I still have some time…but not a lot of $$$! If yall have done something for your SO’s that has worked VERY well, please share!! I need ideas!!
Thank you all!!!! 🙂

Please only respond on the other thread! I didn’t mean to hit the button twice!!

I got him an iPad.
I’m guessing that doesn’t help much because it is $$ but he absolutely loves that darn thing and uses it all the time!

@Lees4308: Both threads have the “respond on other thread” comment, so I’m replying on this one 😉
I’m not entirely sure what I’m doing for my SO’s birthday (end of Feb), but I want to order a bunch of mind-game toys (think rubix cubes, and mind puzzles, he loves things like that) and making a bag with those games, a DVD, maybe a book, and some of his fave candy. I’ll also be making his favourite dinner, chicken and shrimp alfredo, and possibly going out to a movie.
Not really special, but it’s something he’ll enjoy.

@Gingersnap: Oh really?! That’s pretty funny that they both have that on there. I guess it went to both threads, oh well! 🙂
Those are all really good ideas. I never thought of a “goody bag”. It could be like a new tradition! I go out and buy a bunch of things he’ll like, such as gift cards, little games, etc. and put them all in a bag or something. Thank you for that idea!! 🙂
I hope he enjoys his birthday this year!!

- Wedding: May 2011 - Bartram's Garden
I got him a nice laptop bag and took him out to dinner at his favorite sushi place. We agreed not to spend too much money on birthdays and holidays because we’re saving for the wedding.

I planned a surprise birthday dinner at his favorite restaurant with just a few of our friends. It was about 10 people total. I also got him a Kodak video camera very similar to the Flip Cam but actually got better reviews. He loves it. Last year I got him airplane flying lessons but that was expensive!

One year I got him a 6 month subscription to the “beer of the month club” and a nice bottle opener (my parents got him beer steins).
Every month 4 six packs from 2 microbreweries showed up at our door.

I can’t find the other thread?
Anyhoo, my honey’s birthday is next week! I got a bunch of random stuff: A few video games he’s been wanting for a while, Zombie Dice, one of these puzzles (he loves ’em!), a popover pan, a mini donut maker, some new clothes, among other things.

What is “not a lot” of $$$?

I planned a road trip for us. We were supposed to go stay with some of our friends for 2 nights and my cousins for 1 night so we’d only have to pay for 2 nights. To give it to him I made him a book (totally used construction paper and markers.. super class), which our journey and what we’d do in each place, and i put that with a little toy car and a package of gummy candy (road trip food) in a cooler. He was so confused until he read the book heh.

His birthday was a month before our wedding, so I could afford to do much. We were already in St. Louis for the weekend, so I bought him Blues hockey tickets, and we had dinner together. I called the restaurant ahead of time, and had his favorite beer and hot wings already on the table when we got there.
It definitely wasn’t anything special, but he really loved it!

I surprised my hubby brought him a Calzone from his favorite resturaunt on his lunch break then I had our entire family meet up at that resturaunt for a surprise birthday dinner. Come to think of it, I actually don’t think I got him a actual gift. =/ I remember it was just a few weeks before our wedding and we were really poor! lol
I know he would of loved a gift card to Game Stop or Barnes and Noble. Guys don’t really need to be impressed and you can’t go wrong with gift cards! =D

Well, J is a huge baseball fan and his birthday falls in September so I bought him cheap tickets to a Phillies game and treated him to dinner instead of eating expensive ball park food. So, I’m sure that doesn’t help you, but I’m sure something simple such as that will work just as good. It’s the little things we do. =)

One year I called up some friends to join us for a day of rock climbing and spelunking. Last year, I took him camping at one of our favorite places. One year we took a road trip to Boston and went to the aquarium, a concert, and a walking zoo (It was a weekend thing). It works well because we have summer birthdays and we both go to school and I work in education. March 3, by the way, is our dating anniversary. 🙂
