I joked around with Darling Husband a lot before we walked into the courtroom to say our vows. As for writing your own–just practice. 🙂 And it’s okay if you mess up! Once we started saying our vows, it was like everyone else in the room disappeared and it was just the two of us. We were both so in the moment.

I was in too much shock to be nervous!  Darling Husband grabbed me, the kids, and our birth certificates and hustled us off to City Hall to get our marriage license.  On the drive there, he was calling the JoP while I was calling our families.  Too busy and too shocked to even be nervous!

My DH and I had a quick cocktail in the bar right before getting hitched.

Lots of deep breathes.  A glass of champagne.  Pacing.  I also ate a little bit about 15 minutes prior to the ceremony starting.

I am surprised people were nervous.  I wasn’t nervous at all.  Everything jsut felt so right that morning and I could not wait to walk down the aisle.

@missmichigan: I wasnt as much nervous as I was anxious, which made my tummy upset. I laid down for a bit (the corset was getting uncomfortable) went the washroom and ate something.

I know how you’re feeling. I get big butterflies in my stomach whenever I think about the big day! And unfortunately for me, nervousness/anxiousness/excitement causes GI problems…so I will probably be swilling some pepto bismal to help with that.

Other things you might do:

* Listen to some music – maybe classical might calm you? I am thinking I’ll have an IPOD playlist of all the silly, stupid songs my girlfriends and I used to dance to during college, and I’ll play those while we’re getting ready so we can all just laugh and be silly.

* Make a list of all the things you have to do to get ready, then cross them off one by one as you accomplish them. This might help if part of your nervousness is about forgetting to do something or running out of time.

* If you are someone who likes company, try to make sure you always have someone with you during that day while you are getting ready. If you are someone who needs alone time to recharge, try to build in a little window of time where you can just be by yourself on the big day.
