I don’t think there’s any “normal” feelings. I went into wedding dress shopping incredibly apprehensive – I hate shopping, and I really didn’t want to shop for a wedding dress. So when I actually enjoyed the experience, I felt pleasantly surprised. I liked that the process made me excited.

Another April 2014 bride trying on dresses already! Yay! I actually haven’t tried any on yet but really want to when my Mum visits next month. Glad I won’t be the only one getting in on it so early.

I have wondered the same (about how it’ll feel). Maybe once you’ve tried more and know what you’re looking for you’ll get more emotionally involved. They look great though.

When I tried on the very first dress, it really hit me that I was going to be a wife. I even pondered buying that dress (it was actually quite hideous!). Then, I tried on several other dresses. I didn’t cry, but I looked at myself to see how I felt. When I tried on my dress, I knew. I still didn’t cry (well, I did, but that was later and because the consultant was a moron who made me cry tears of sadness, frustration and hatred), but I was so, so happy. It was so me, and I felt beautiful. I knew it was mine. Also, there was another one I had picked out, but I was really, really hesistant to hand over my credit card. Once I found my dress, I happily paid. haha, that was a sign for me.

From your descriptions of the dresses, are you sure you’re trying on the bestsilhouette? Since there seems to be a common theme of not being able to breathe or sit or move, maybe you should give other styles a try.

@Mimoza:  I was worried it’s something I’ll change my mind about if I do it too early, but at the same time it’s something I definitely don’t want to leave too late either. That’s a goo dpoint about spreading the cost too. And so far your poll confirms; you’re normal! Good luck shopping.

i have only tried on one dress so far. Alfred Angelo Belle #206, no pictures of me in it, they wouldn’t allow that. i chose ‘tears, tears and more tears’ because none of the other options fitted at all. i felt beautiful, for the first time. whenever i try on clothes i get really upset but for some reason i felt amazing in that dress. while i didn’t fully cry, i got a little teary, and it was definitely overwhelming trying on a dress for the first time.

this is the dress (i tried it on without the detachable shrug thing)

@Mimoza:  no i am definitely planning on shopping more, i just want to get down to a weight level i am more comfortable with, and my wedding is still so far away. but i will definitely be checking preowned wedding dress places to see if that dress is for sale closer to my wedding πŸ˜‰ it depends on if i find something I feel is ‘The One’ more than that πŸ™‚
