I wanted some ideas on gifts to get my parents for my wedding. They have been paying for the majority of the costs and have been amazingly supportive for my and my Fiance this year. A month ago we lost my brother suddenly and I have not been able to work for a while. I don’t have any benefits to my job, so I had not paid sick time, no paid vacation time. If I don’t work I don’t get paid. So we also had financial support from my parents to help us make our mortgage payment this month. They are amazing and have been through so much this past month and I want to be able to give them a gift that shows how much they mean to me and how much I appreciate all they have done for us. However, we are still recovering financially so I have almost no money to spend. I feel so horrible that I may not be able to give them something special. Any ideas???

We got our parents an 8 x 8 photo album of wedding photos after the wedding as a Thank You. I used some Groupons and coupon codes for Shutterfly to make them. I gave them a card on the wedding day that said something like “A wedding photo album is coming your way after the big day”.
On the day of the wedding I gave both my parents embroidered handkerchiefs as a keepsake and a heartfelt thank you card. I got them on ETSY. My DH decided not to give anything besides the photo albums to his parents.

We will probably get them a photo album and I plan on getting my dad an embroidered handkerchief before we walk down the aisle. Probably a photo album or framed photo collage for FI’s parents.

Great idea! I am always seeing discounts on shutterfly and groupon for photo albums/frames/canvas prints! I didn’t think this would work because we are giving out gifts during rehearsal dinner – but giving a card to say that the photo album, etc is on its way after the wedding is a great way to work around this! Thank you!!
I think I am now leaning in that direction as well. I found some really amazing frames that have really sweet inscriptions on them! I like the hankerchief idea too! I have seen those on Etsy!

We did albums and prints for them post wedding. I also got my mom a charm for her Pandora bracelet.

We got my parents a gift certificate for dinner and wine at their favourite high-end restaurant. They really appreciated the opportunity to treat themselves!

We bought a rose bush for each of our parents and displayed them either side of the marquee door at the reception. It was tricky to do this in secret but my mum’s friends watered them for us for 2 weeks and drove them there! (We don’t live in our hometown anymore which is where we had the reception, so we had to ask people to help us!). We thought it was a nice alternative to a bouquet because our parents can plant them in their gardens.
We also bought them a wedding album each.
