We went out for a nice dinner on his actual birthday.  A few weeks before his cell phone died so I bought him the new blackberry that he’d wanted and gave it to him a few days earlier.

Dinner at a five star restaurant! $50 steak, $40 bottle of wine, the works. Took me two entire paychecks to even cover the tab, so he won’t be getting a “present” until I can earn more money. I’m kinda mad that he picked the restaurant he did, it’s the PERFECT proposal restaurant.

My SO has a birthday coming up as well.  I’m probably going to get him some video gaming accessories/games, and take him out to a nice dinner.

We tend to make requests so as not to end up wasting money on something we don’t want.  My DH’s birthday is next month and he requested a home brewery kit to make his own beer.  It’s actually been fun learning about everything that goes into brewing– I want to make sure he has everything he needs along with a beginner’s book and an ingredients kit to make his favorite kind of beer. All in all,  it’s going to cost about $350, and I’m planning on putting in the order this week. He’s got friends who are sure to come by and learn to brew with him.  Because he knows I’ve put some thought into it,  I can’t do what I was going to do,  which was buy him a Mr. Beer kit (consider it the Easy Bake Oven of brewing) as a gag gift to watch him squirm, then bring out the real kit.  🙂

My hubby goes through clothes like crazy, so I bought him some shirts and a few pairs of jeans. Then we got dressed up and went to a fancy restaurant we have never been to before. It was nice!

@Pink Asawa:  I got him a signed football jersey from his favorite player who has been retired for quite some time. For our anniversary a few months prior, I got him a signed football from the same guy.

Nothing creative this year.

A Notre Dame flag he can hang outside the new house. I gave it to him early at the beginning of the season so he could use it. His bday is not for 4 weeks.

And two bathingsuits I have purchased for him. He desperately needs them now that we moved to a warm climate.

I am going to celebrate his bday early next week or the week after since I am due with a baby in just over 3 weeks. Ill make his favorite ribeye, butter poached lobster tail, twice baked potatoes and spinach salad with bacon dressing and set the table with the china etc. And bake a nice cake for him.

A zombie dragon (“Terrorgheist”) for his Warhammer army:

For those who don’t know anything about Warhammer, the figures don’t come assembled/painted.  You have to do that yourself!  FI spent a TON of time putting together his zombie dragon, and it looks pretty awesome (the one in the picture is just an example from the Warhammer website).

This year I bought him seasons 1-5 of Breaking Bad, a jar of his favourite lollies, a season of The Simpsons and series of other little things.  I try not to, but I always end up spoiling him.

FI’s bday is coming up. He’s so difficult to buy for partially because he is so non-materialistic. He also doesn’t watch TV (doesn’t even have one at his apartment) or play video games etc. His favorite thing to do is visit state parks, camp, etc. So I got him a new pair of hiking shoes, a marmot jacket and some new shirts. Another thing he mentioned wanting was a rear view mirror for his computer monitor at work since his desk is positioned in such a way that people constantly sneak up on him – so I got him that too. I will also take him out to dinner somewhere he likes and bake him something. He loves M&M cookies, so last year I made him a large pan of M&M cookie bars instead of a cake. He loved it.

My Fiance is SO hard to buy for. His interests all involve super expensive things, like computers and other electronics. Last year, I got him baseball tickets. His favorite team (Washington Nationals) was playing in Boston, so we went to 2 games. This year, I got him a grill for our roof deck, which he LOVED.
