I am giving Mr. Avo the game Compatibility (we haven’t exchanged gifts yet) and he told me my present cost $5. I’m just a little bit nervous 🙂 We gave each other a super nice Dance Dance Revolution pad at the beginning of December which is counting as our gift to each other.

I know its a newlywed post, but I like the newlywed boards too!

It was my first Christmas without opening presents with my family so my fiance played Santa. We normally do one big gift for eachother and thats it, but this year he went a little overboard playing Santa and gave me clothes, sneakers, pearl earrings, slippers, and gift cards in my stocking. I gave him the tie to wear at our wedding, Hockey tickets to his favorite team and work clothes and accessories (boxers, socks, a belt).

  • Wedding: March 2018 - Still Looking!

Poor Mr Tulip, if getting married doesn’t change things, becoming a dad sure will!  We decided not to exchange gifts (though he broke that agreement and gave me something from a certain famously blue box).  All family gift money is going toward a much-needed fridge.  We spent Christmas day with his family, and they gave me a small personal gift and gave us several things for the baby….  And when we got home Christmas night, Mr T realized that he didn’t get a SINGLE personal gift this year!

We bought eachother a new TV so we werent supposed to exchange gifts, but Mr. Peng got me the Dwell Weekender bag I’ve been craving for over a year! I LOVE IT!  It was a lifesaver because we were able to cram a bunch of stuff in it on our trip back from Minnesota!

And I didnt get him anything because I thought we were sticking to the TV.  I am a crappy wife.

We decided to just do cards this year since Mr. Cupcake got laid off, and I thought it would be a little depressing, but it wasn’t at all! We still enjoyed exchanging gifts with our families, and for the first time we spent the entirety of Christmas Eve through Christmas Day together. That was a huge deal and that meant more to me than any gifts. We had so much fun (and started a new tradition of a gingerbread house decorating competition with my family). Oh and I also bought a little $8 "our first Christmas" ornament, but that was a gift to both of us, for our future (non-mini) Christmas trees.

In the past we’ve always spent $100 or more on each other, so it’s funny that the first Christmas we’re actually married we didn’t do any gifts…. but it was still perfect.

We made a pact with each other and our families to not do gifts this year (excluding peeps under the age of 5) but Mr Breezy floored me with the most amazing gift ever anyways (he said it was for my birthday in January)… my very first Mac! Our computer at home is a piece of poo and I’ve been complaining about it for over a year now so he justified the gift saying it would save him having to hear me whine every night. Ha! He hates Macs though so it truly was a gift from the heart. Awww… Can’t WAIT to start recaps now!

I got Mr. T a couple of books, new shoes, and a framed wordle print of our vows… he went overboard, of course breaking our agreed-upon budget and surprised me with diamond earrings that match the right-hand ring he gave me on our wedding day!  I felt like a schmuck for not having something nicer for him!

Mr. Nanna was very generous and purchased the everyday dinnerware we registered for and didnt get!  I love the Denby Jet Dots & Stripes set.

I got Mr. Nanna 80Gig PS3 with the games GTA, Mirrors Edge & NFS Undercover.  This was a mistake though cause now all he wants to do is play with his present!  I should have known better!
