- Wedding: October 2014
I was feeling very relaxed about wedding planning until about a week ago. Now, I’m so lost! Fiance and I have been planning our wedding for a year and a half now, but it was getting so complicated (read: expensive) that we decided to downsize our guest list from 150 to 30. After that, everything seemed so much simpler! However, now that we’ve been given the go-ahead from my parish to set a date (October 2014), I’m realizing that I don’t have anything done!
We’re not planning a traditional wedding. We’re only inviting immediate family and close friends. A family friend (priest) will be marrying us at our alma mater where he teaches/presides. We’re having a 4-course dinner for the reception at the restaurant where we had our first date/where we ate dinner the night he proposed.
Well… that’s the plan.
We’re Catholic, so we’re currently taking Pre-Cana classes, and we’ll be done in the summer. We’ve contacted the officiant, and he will be getting back to us with the available dates in October. We’re only 6 months out, but we’re getting married on a Friday, so we’re hoping the church isn’t already booked completely. We’re hoping to set the date by next week, but I’m worried there may be too many uncertainties. We’re currently exchanging emails with the restaurant, but we haven’t made any deposits to secure a date. Currently, there are 3 Fridays available in October, so I’m hoping at least one coincides with the church’s availability, but I won’t know until we hear back from the officiant.
& what about photography, flowers, hair & makeup, etc.?
I haven’t figured any of that yet. I’m worried we’ll set a date that coincides with the church and venue, but we won’t be able to find an photographer available in such short notice, especially since we have a limited budget. I’m not as worried about booking a florist or hair stylist/makeup artist, but it still freaks me out a little.
Should we set a date before booking a photographer, florist, hair stylist/makeup artist, etc.?
What did you have figured out by the time you set a date?
P.S. I already have my dress, veil, shoes, and jewelry.
