I made a list of all the things I wanted to take.  Things were very busy the few days leading up to the wedding and it was nice to be able to go off of a list and know that nothing was left off!  I didn’t take anything that unusual but I did list every item that I would be wearing: specific jewlery pieces, crinolin slip, shoes, etc, etc.  Will you be sleeping at the hotel the night before?  If so, will you be washing your hair there?  If so, I’d make sure to bring my own hair products as I hate hotel shampoos/conditioners, etc.  You’ll probably want a button down type shirt for when you get your hair done.  I would also plan to bring food and drink.  It’s important you get something to eat before the wedding!

Champagne, and a robe from home.  I tried to get ready in the hotel robe, but it was scratchy and the high collar was interfering with my hairdo.  I had a bridesmaid run to my house and get a silky robe.

I secon (third or fourth?) FOOD. No matter what your plans are, even if you’ve built in time for food – pack some emergency snacks anyway! I thought I would have plenty of time for food/lunch, and my hair ended up taking more than an hour more than we expected – bye bye lunchtime! If I had not packed snacks, I would have been a hangry mess by the time we got to the ceremony venue.

Also, Q-TIPS – my makeup lady said that Q-Tips are better than Kleenex to keep on hand to use on your eyes in case you cry. If you feel yourself tearing up, just dab your eye with the Q-Tip, which won’t smudge your makeup.

Have fun!

You could always wait until after ceremony to put them on! I was so miserable in my shoes.. it was worth having another pair just in case. It’s better to have fun then be in pain 😉

I wish I had brought a change of (nice) clothes for the reception.  I got tired of wearing the dress.

I think that the most important things are the rings and the marriage license and the money.  I put them in a suitcase with the rest of the stuff that I needed, e.g. jewelry and shoes.  Put eveything in a suitcase so you’re ready to go.

I also think food is a great suggestion.

I took a zip up sweatshirt because I always get cold in hotels.  I’d take a good pillow if you don’t like hotel pillows too.  I also loved that we had wedding movies to pop in the DVD player throughout the day.
