I named my maltese Satiné after Nicole Kidman’s character in Moulin Rouge.  It’s one of my all time favorites.  I was also obsessed with the movie at the time.  =)

My husband had our dog before I met him. He had a dog named Whiskey that died really young and when he got our dog he named her Brandie because it’s another dark liquor lol. When we were planning on getting another dog I kept telling my husband I wanted a purse puppy, something I could carry around with me wherever I went. I got a small dog but not small enough for a purse lol, but I named him after a purse designer anyway, his name is Louis!!!

We named our cat Vincent after Vincent Van Gogh because he spent the first weeks of his life living at an artist’s studio.

We named our dog Mozzy which is short for Mozart.  I love classical music and we like how it fit in with the artist theme we already had going.

My kitty’s name is Lilith. We couldn’t pick a name for her for hours! Eventually SO chose her name because she’s a “basement cat” and therefore evil, like the biblical Lilith. Hard to believe our little furball is 4 1/2 years old already. *tear* They grow up so fast.

I had some fish a while ago… They were named Flo, Bob, and Dory. Dory after Finding Nemo. Same thing with Flo (she’s still alive and kicking) and I just thought Bob was appropriate for a bottomfeeder. I adopted my pooch and her original name was Maggie.. but I decided to name her Penny after Penny from Lost 😀

She was called Raina at the shelter I got her at, but she didn’t respond to it at all, so I changed it. The first afternoon I brought her home, she managed to sniff her way to the kitchen counter and lick a bottle of Bailey’s Irish Cream….so she became Bailey. 🙂

I’ve got two cats and a dog.

My dog’s name is Gus. FH wanted to help pick the name since we were together when I adopted him, and one of FH’s favorite books is Lonesome Dove. So he picked Gus after one of characters in the book.

FH had one cat when we got together. Her name is Miacoda, which according to FH is Cherokee for ‘tower of the moon’. I’m not sure if it’s right, but he liked it.

My kitten is named Minerva, after Minerve McGonagall from Harry Potter and also a little bit for the goddess Minerva (the Roman equivalent of Athena), who is the goddness of magic, medicine and wisdom.

This is Montgomery, Monty for short.  I really don’t know how we choose his name, it just sounded good!

Historical & TV: Brutus is named after the guy who murdered Caesar.  We were watching the t.v. show Rome at the time and really liked the name.

Names are personal things, with animals too..I wanted to name my cat Cleo, after a favorite childhood pet of my grandfather’s, but she wouldn’t answer to it, so after some strange turn of fate I found out that her name was Smoo…

Our greyhound was a retired racer that they called Kenny…that name was so wrong for that dog I still can’t believe it!  A hulking black monster of a hound with tuxedo markings and copper eyes, we named him Cairo, since greyhounds are the oldest dogs on earth and originated from Egypt.

Our Great Pyrenese was rescued from a family that had no idea what they were getting into with him, HUGE!  They named him Simba…after the Lion King, which I hated for him…since he has a habit of farting in a room and promply leaving he is called formally, The Uni-Boo-Boo…after the unibomber and Boo-boo from Yogi..but his friends call him Boo-Boo.

Our yellow lab we got as a puppy, and at eight weeks, his feet were bigger than Boo-boo’s…I knew he was going to be big and his personality is just one of charge on in there and lick people till they give me what I want…we named him Brock, after Brock Sampson from the Venture Borthers…the ultimate blonde killing machine…even if he kills you with love
