I have two cats, the first one I bought off my friend’s boyfriend who had named her after his favorite Thai place so when I got her I named her after one of my favorite bands, Eisley.
The second cat was adopted from the shelter and had already came with the name Maja. I was set on changing it but after 2 months I had yet to think of anything I liked as much. She just looks like a Maja, if it weren’t for a couple dark stripes on her tail you would never know she wasn’t a Russian Blue.

Our dog was named “Peace” when we adopted her. We thought it was a silly name so we decided to change it.
We named her Khloe. No particular reason other than the name seemed to fit her and we thought it was cute!

Fiance found Sensei and named him that because he thought he looked like a little Asian man. We threw around other names for a while, but Sensei stuck.

My dog is named after a comic strip dog. “For Better or For Worse”.

Our dog growing up was named Trixie after my 8 year old brother suggested Trix (like the cereal).
The two cats my family has now are named Libbie and Zora. Libbie is after the town (Lisbon) where we got them and then Zora is named after my grandmother (her middle name was Balzora). I’m sure she would’ve loved having a cat named after her, hah.

We have a Dachshund named Brady Quinn–who was my Fiance favorite quarterback at the time we got him.. I wasn’t crazy about the name Brady at first.. but it definitely fits his personality now! His name was originally Jimmy Dean, yes like the breakfast sausage lol
Our team’s quarterback has changed several times since we got Brady, and everyone always asks “Are you going to change his name to fit the current quarterback?” They think they’re being hilarious.. but they’re being dumb, no we’re not changing his name to follow along with the team.

@Mrs.KMM: Khloe is a cute name!
Stella was originally Marisol, but I didn’t think it fit her. I named her Stella (Latin for “star”) because the spots on her ears looked like a starry night.
Fun Fact: We nickname her Stella Bella (Like, beautiful Stella). My Mom told me in Latin that means Star Wars!

@Pearberry: Oh yeah, that does make sense. In latin, “bellum” means war.

My ex named my dog Tia Maria. Because she’s a registered pomeranian, I didn’t think Tia Maria was appropriate, so I added Duchess in the front of it, so she’s Duchess Tia Maria. She’s always been Tia for short. But I probably would have named her Cookie, because that’s what I usually call her.
I picked the name for my cat. I named him Jasper. No idea why. It just seemed to suit him.
I’m so lucky that my husband loves them both!

My puppy (who is no longer a puppy, really, and lives with my parents, not me, now) is a Wire Fox Terrier. When we got her, her name was “Lily” but she was really young and didn’t really respond to it. Plus my mom hated the name, couldn’t pronounce it easily. So I got to pick a new name for her.
I have no idea where it came from, but I like using older-type names for everything I name, so I decided her name would be Matilda Rose. Mattie for short. (It drives me crazy when people say “Maddie” or asume her name is Madeline… I can’t imagine how annoyed I’ll be when people do the same with my future kids’ names!)
Her nickname, though, is Beast. Because she is CRAZY.

My first pet was a dog with my ex named Dolce. We DID NOT choose that name, for the record, and she was a giant dog! All she knew how to do when we met her was sit, and she knew her name. Because she was 2 years old, we figured it was best to keep her name and go from there.
My second pet was my pups, Jemma. I named her using a baby book because I wanted an alliterated name (like mine!). I also wanted a name that could easily find nicknames, so Jemma is usually Jemmabear, Jemsybear, Jems, Jemsy, and Jemmie. I love it!
My third pet is a lab my husband got with his ex wife. His name is Oscar and he was named after a bar they/he frequented.

This is my baby Bjork! Named after the legendary icelandic singer. When she was a kittenshe was mostly just a dark black tuff of hair and had a sreechy sing songy meow…. plus I love Bjork.
And this is Admiral Pantoufle(pronouced with an exaggerated french accent). Pantoufle (pronouced crudely as pan-tuffle) for short. It’s french for slipper. Its an inside joke between me and my hubby.

Our pup had a name when we adopted him but we changed it to Kane. He is named after a marine from FI’s platoon that was KIA in Afghanistan.
Now at almost two 🙂

I got my baby boy from the local shelter (who would get rid of someone so precious) and the shelter called him “Shanks”……We got him home and we changed the name to “ROWDY” (the stuffed lab off of scrubs- tv show)
We also got our mainecoon from a shelter and he was called “Smokey”…We changed it to “Mcgyver”, but after a bit of time we changed it again to “Mouw” because he talks a lot. (pictured right)
“Pixel” is my baby girl that I got from a friend…and I thought of the name (pictured left)
