My Mom – $2500 (my gown, alterations, favors, postage)

My Dad – $10,000 (ceremony, reception, decorations, food, photographer)

Us – $5500 (DH’s suit, travel, reception, invitations, gifts, odds and ends)

DH’s Parents – $0

ETA: I should also mention we had a destination wedding so many of our vendors were included in the over-all package. It was a great deal! The amounts above do not include the 1 week all-inclusive stay at our resort though.

We ended up with a pretty even split $25k from both our parents, but I want to add that this was for a 3 day wedding with 100 guests the first 2 days and 250 on the 3rd day (the wedding/reception day).

I paid for the DIY invites (which reminds me, must post the finished product on here – I’m really proud of how they turned out!), my Indian wedding dress and jewellry, paid someone on Etsy make our programs, make-up/hair artist for two days plus her airfare and accommodations, a bunch of gifts for my 3 bridesmaids, white wedding dress alterations (parents paid for the dress though), custom cake toppers, 30 frames for tables names and to hold signs for drinks and seating charts…oh and we paid for each other’s rings. All that added up to about $6000.

We used money from our very generous guests to pay for our month long honeymoon in New Zealand.

My parents haven’t put a set amount on it, they just said they’re paying for everything associated with my reception venue- dinner, cocktail hour, and open bar. My mom also bought my wedding dress.

My in laws are not as financially secure however we are hoping they can save to help with the rehearsal dinner.

We’re saving on our own and I also have a home equity line of credit as a back up but hopefully we don’t need to dip into that much.

My parents: $15,000 cash to spend as we please (about $12,000 will go toward wedding, the rest we are saving)

His dad: $1,000 cash (will cover rehearsal dinner and the rest will go into the big pot of money to cover other expenses)

Us: none! We are going to stay under our $13,000 budget for our 200+ person wedding and still have a little left over! I love my parents so much!
