    We really lucked out with our DJ. He’s the best man’s best friend and he offered to do 8 hours for $500. He will be doing the music for the ceremony, cocktail hour and through the reception.

    My DJ is $3k for 6 hours. I’m in the northeast though. It includes DJ/MC, lighting (NOT uplighting), gobo, and walking on the clouds.

    $900 for 4 hours. I can’t remember what the fifth hour will be (overtime outside of the package). $150 or something?

    @HisNightOwl2014:  The quote we received was $695 (so I voted $700-$800 since it will definitely be that much once we figure in tip) for 6 hours.  If we want additional time, it will be $100/hour for each additional hour.  We may end up doing an additional hour, depending on when we decide to start our ceremony (we still haven’t decided) since he’ll be in charge of music for the ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception.

    Our DJ is charging us $2400 for five and a half hours (ceremony included). This includes music, lighting and up lighting.  We’re having our wedding in the Hudson Valley in Upstate NY.

    we lucked out because i have friends in the radio business and club scene so our DJ was only $800 (cheap for my area and his skill level) for about 5 hours. he’s someone i’ve known for a long time so i was really happy he DJ’d our wedding.

    @HisNightOwl2014:  Oh including ceremony is great! We are just getting unmanned music for the cocktail hour/dinner and then an actual human DJ for the dancing part. Your deal is better!

    WOW i could not imagine paying that much for a DJ! Mine is $200 for four hours. The most popular DJ in our city is only 400 for up to 6 hours. I guess I got lucky living in Kentucky lol

    I didn’t see an option for my price range…

    We are paying $950 which includes:

    6-7 hours of service

    3 different set-ups (ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception are in 3 different rooms and require different set-ups)

    MICs for ceremony, toasts, etc.

    Set-up/break-down fees

    Personal website where we pick out songs, mention “do not play” songs, etc.

    @HisNightOwl2014:

    He will get over it quickly! We went to a wedding back in October where instead of splurging for a DJ (in the $800 range) they decided to have an IPOD reception. It was fine except they didn’t set anyone up to man the IPOD or make announcements. Right after dinner 80% of the people left. Just remind him in the bigger picture it’s worth it!

    My price isn’t on there, $450. A friend of the family who is just starting up did the whole evening, cocktail hr, dinner, dance, from 4:30-10pm. We got a great deal.
